Answer to puzzle 1. Qd6+!! The king has to capture the queen or black loses its rook, therefore ....Kxd6 White plays 2. Bxc3+ winning a bishop and it is a discovered check to the king by the rook. (Black's queen cannot capture the bishop as it's king is in check) After the king escapes to any square ....Ke6 , then white simply captures the queen on A5 with the bishop 3. Bxa5 ! White will be left with an extra bishop ( +3 points )

In the puzzle at the end, Qd6+ is the best move. If the Black King takes the White Queen, then Bxc3 is a discovered check because of the Rook on d1. After the Black King moves, Bxa5. The end result would be a Queen trade and a free Bishop for White. On the other hand if the Black King does not take the Queen after Qd6+, White can take the Black Rook on b8 for free.

Puzzle answer 10:11: white have huge advantage here...Best is white queen D-6 give attacking king on E-3 and figure on B-8 same time...if he take queen, you take d-2 to c3, making suprise attacking king again with D-1figure , he need to move king or defend with queen(is same result on the end), you take qeen. so he lost bishop and queen, you lost only queen what is good trade and best what can black take...if he not take queen he gonna lose rook on B8 for free and lose chance to win game.If is black move he have check-mate in two moves, just take bishop c-3 to d-2 forcing rook to take bishop, than black rook play B-8 to B-1.

Thanks, Chess Talk! This was a really excellent thinking strategy. I’ll be sure to use it with each and every move. I think my biggest weakness in chess is my defence. I am so wrapped up in defending each player, whether it be from the weakest Pawn to the strongest Queen, that I forget to make my advances. I miss so many good opportunities, but with this strategy, I can even things out a ton and get my play back on track.

Especially the one at 8:00 was very useful. My 660 rapid mind didn't even see the opportunity of Bishop taking the black pawn with a check. Many of us get stressed by the immediate threat - in this example to our knight - and that may result in blind spots and missing opportunities to win extra material.

Woh! I become so surprised in this whole video... 1. An unique way to apply SWOT in chess 2. 3 to 4 advices are awesome. I like this one "always look for opportunities when there there is an immediate threat" 3. I did not think moves like this so whole video give much info to improve ❤ Test ans: (Although I was not able to find the right moves but from comment I came to know the right one First Qd6+ Kxd6(Forcely he need to capture) Then Bxc3+ Ke6 or Qd5(A Discovery checked by the rook, she need to do one thing, either move king or protect with queen) If Ke6 then Bxa5 else cxd5

Interesting. I was so concerned about loosing the most powerful piece on the board that I didn't even consider sacrificing the queen for blacks bishop and queen. I guess it really is about positive thinking. I thought it was bad to lose the queen but it turns out its the best move. Illustrates how there's no real way to avoid trading and that you need to optimise this for yourself. Good video.

I just stared playing chess. I’m up early in the dining room watching this. I just evaluated this move I made. Strengths, Im comfortable on the couch, my wife isn’t bothered any more by me making noise in bed. Weakness, there are some dishes to be done, I’m hungry. Threats, if my wife realize how much time I’m playing chess and ignoring the dishes, that could be a problem, if I make my self some thing to eat and forget her, that could be a problem. Solution, take five minutes to do the dishes, make us both breakfast. Reward, play chess for along time, and get lucky. Thanks chess talk, you saved the day.

Having looked at it for about five minutes I would move the F2 pawn to F3, opening an escape route for my king and strengthening my right side defence at the sacrifice of my bishop and rook. I came to the conclusion that I couldn't launch any meaningful attack and defending my dark-squared bishop would prove fruitless. I had a checkmate threat incoming with bxd2, rxd2, rb1 checkmate (I hope that made sense I don't understand chess notation), so I had no option but to try and escape. I am only 650 elo [rapid] so I'm likely well off the mark. Great video, liked and subbed.
