The founders of pragmatism (Peirce, James, Oliver Wendell Holmes) had much to say about norms. In this talk, Professor Cheryl Misak (University of Toronto) looks at the promising view of law and its legitimacy which originates in the work of Oliver Wendell Holmes and then is continued in the next generation of pragmatists by John Dewey and C.I. Lewis.
