Cherry Starr: Remembering the beloved wife of Packers legend Bart Starr
Cherry Starr, wife of Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr, died Feb. 27 at her home in Birmingham, Alabama.
She was 89.
She was beloved not only by her husband, to whom she was married for more than 60 years, but by many who came in contact with her, even briefly. Bart Starr died in 2019.
Cherry Starr was known for her charity work throughout her life, especially locally with the Rawhide Boys Ranch.

When my sister was trick or treating one Halloween in the mid 70's, she and her friend went to Bart's house in Allouez (not knowing whose house it was). Bart and Cherry were worried that two young girls were out by themselves after dark, so they invited them in, fed them a snack and Bart drove them home. Needless to say, my dad was pretty surprised when he answered the door. They were pretty incredible people.
