Rest in peace mort, he always made the NFL so informative. My dad passed at the same age a couple years ago. I was looking up the other day, to see whatever happened to John Clayton, and seen that he had passed away too

And Lee Corso on deck . Nobody enjoys watching their Heroes die . But indeed the Fates escape us not . Memories are why we strive to be better than we are .
Rest easy legend
I love this guy probably My favorite commentator of all time. His interviews and presentations always left you feeling good!
ESPN should be ashamed of themselves today for the lack of coverage of on this. They should have done a special Sports center tribute show to this man. Former colleagues, players and anyone who has ever come across Mort during his time on this earth. But to give him a small segment of acknowledgement is blasphemous in my opinion

The 1990s NFL Sunday Countdown show on ESPN was my absolute favorite pre-game show of all time with Chris Mortensen, Chris Berman, Tom Jackson, Joe Theismann and Sterling Sharpe.
Praying for his family and friends
Very professional and good vibe guy!!
Will be missed god bless the family
I’ll never forget the first time I saw this guy. I was 13 and he looked like an older version of my old football coach at Edgewood Jr high school. I’ll never forget that.
Completely heart broken, I remember him those Sunday mornings. He beat cancer and truly continued his passion no matter how he felt. Prayers to his family 🙏
Rest in Peace bro🙏🏼

LEGEND. He will be greatly missed.
He will be surely be missed
Chris was great. He will be missed 😢
I'll never forget the old school, OG Sunday Gameday & Sunday night Primetime crew of Chris Berman & Tom Jackson with Jaws, Mort & Theisman giving commentary & injury updates. That was the best show ESPN _ever_ had, followed closely by DP & KO on "the Big Show." The memories of watching football with my friends from my high school & college years are my favorite sports memories to this day, & Mort was a huge part of those shows. Thanks & prayers go out to Mort's family & friends #RIPLEGEND

He was the pinnacle of Sports reporting. In that "Cronkite style", he rarely if ever offered opinion. Only facts, as sharp as a straight razor, and let YOU, the viewer, come to your own conclusion. You know, like REAL JOURNALISM. He was an example. He was a man, who many times, made us think, pause, reflect, and realize the truth, even in sports, still lives. Thank you Chris & God bless you & yours....
In the early years of ESPN Radio -- anchor Peter Brown said he would have a bit of fun with Chris Mortensen (unbeknownst to the guest) and ask questions out of order during their segment just to see what would happen......and Mort never missed a beat by getting thrown off.
What happened? What did he die of?
Mort was back when ESPN had real journalists.
Will be missed by all. By mort
