Cherry Bomb® Turbo vs. Cherry Bomb® Salute - Sound Comparison - 5.3L Chevy - Which is better?

This video compares the sound of the Cherry Bomb® Turbo and the Cherry Bomb® Salute mufflers. These mufflers look very similar but are built completely different. How will the sound compare? Will they sound the similar? Will one sound louder than the other? I do a series of accelerations and decelerations and one long uphill acceleration to record the "drone" sound inside of the cab of the truck and come to a conclusion.
Let me know in the comment section below which you think sounds the best on my 1999 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 with the 5.3L LM7 V8.

Great comparison. I’ve narrowed my choice down to these 2 mufflers. My concern is interior noise when towing my camper! Thanks. BTW, balance your truck tires!
I had a CB turbo on my Corolla years ago. Thing was bone stock and it made the car sound turbocharged. All my friends though I turbocharged it and lied about it lol. The car sounded amazing tho.

Salute its basically a Magnaflow knockoff. But I'd go with a bigger body. 14 inch body just has too much drone and can be too loud at times. The 24 inch body with a 30 inches being the overall in either the oval or round body would be perfect once its good and broken in. And you can get the salute in an oval or round body as well. That'd be an excellent comparison. CB: Salute Oval vs Round Body.
I just installed the turbo to my 2010 5.3l. Great sound. Not too loud or obnoxious. But gives it a nice grumble

@taylorshiver3284 it does seem to have a slight drone. It's a definite increase of sound in the cab. But honestly it's not horrible at all. No popping either. Just a little more grumble than the stock exhaust. I wish it was a little louder but due to where I live, I don't really want it any louder in case one of my neighbors complain. All around I do like it.
You said the salute drones LESS than the turbo? Also what body length are these mufflers?

That's because the fiberglass packing hasn't blown out yet.
I have a 1976 c10 250 straight six and atm it's open headers but with the massive hole in the floor pan I can't have that. My idea is to have it either straight piped to the back or with a quiet muffler, and have a cutout with a cherry bomb. Cutouts are just so rediculousy expensive. I wonder if I could make a manual cutout that uses a cable, sort of like a pull choke?

DigIntoEverything ain’t nothin wrong with a little hillbilly ingenuity! I know there are manual cutouts out there that you have to unbolt the cover.

If the Turbo has more drone, (78db) at 2,000 RPM, then the the Salute is most likely 75-76 db brand new. Once the fiberglass packing blows out, db's will be somewhere in-between the turbo and the glasspack, because the steel wool packing will still remain.

I think Id prefer the Salute especially being stainless. I used to hear all kinds of stories from my parents generation about having a muscle cars with "a 4 speed on the floor and some Cherry Bombs!" 🍒💣 Nice explanation on the muffler designs and test results.

The salute sounds a hell of a lot meaner, more bodied.

good video, both sound h great but the salute looks like it's better quality muffler. right now I'm running a Pypes Turbo and it's actually kinda loud and annoying...
Can I retrofit this muffler to my lawn tractor?

The Salute has that exhaust note that's just better sounding.
I think the salute sounds better but even if they were the same, the salute is not much more money so I would install one of those just for the fact its stainless so no issues with rust.

Similar but I’d say the salute
I have the salutes on my torino. Not to bad a cruising speed but around 2,000 rpm they drone enough
It depends on the vehicle, but I like the salute better on your truck

Salute sounds better by far. Straight pipes are the best, followed by glass packs

They have a slightly different sound bias far as loud they sound about the same

Just removed my glass pack sounds like a wet fart but fit in with the other skee yees in my area
