We just lost our 12 year old German Shepherd 3 weeks ago. He was a special dog. That 12 years went by so fast that it's going to take a while to get over this one.

My heart goes out to you, stay strong because he had the best life ever being with you. It's hard and I have had that experience with two German shepherds, a cat and then I lost my dad last year but it does get better I promise. We just have amazing memories after but it takes time.

Right!?! All 3 dogs running off leash in the ball field! Rodeo Dog, Agility, FETCH - now an AKC title event, Barn Hunt with my high prey drive Dobe who is also a Therapy Dog, Nose Work, brain games, trick dog, working on a READ dog to help kids read too. Really a shortage of therapy dogs if you have time and want others to enjoy your dog too - even colleges are wanting students to destess from studying and exams. Hope that helps.

My GS carried his nylabone home from Petsmart in its package..same thing, everyone was laughing. He lives to meet people and play with other dogs. He’s gotten out of my backyard twice on the extremely rare occasion I put him out unsupervised so I can vacuum or whatever, the first time he defeated a wire loop and instead of having an adventure, he simply came around the house up the hill (walk in front, go down stairs to backyard we are set in a hill) was watching me vacuum from the front porch glass door patiently. Next time I had added a chain and a little long lock unlocked, he defeated both and this time went down the street a couple houses to the home of two lab retrievers he’s played w since 8 weeks old.…my neighbors put him on a leash and walked him home..I was mortified that he could’ve been run over or even worse. I’ve since added a carabiner hook to the gate, but our fences aren’t high, soon he will figure out he could clear them. They’re so funny in how they don’t understand why we don’t allow them 24 hour access to our sides, or share all the food on our plates. They just want us, I think, to be dogs too, act like them, be together like a pack 24/7. I’m disabled, I spend all my time with him, and it still seems like he doesn’t understand those tiny moments I go to the store without him or vacuum (he barks so much so loudly I have to just get him separated from that.) or if I open the back door and he walks out, he looks back and realizes I’m not coming too and gives me “the eyes.” He just turned one.

My almost 4 years old Cane Corso put smiles on people's faces when i go out with him. I thought people were rather scared of him, but somehow, many think he looks happy & cute. I enjoy doing things with him every day and he keeping smiles on my face too. It's sad but no wonder why this privilege won't last that long....😢 Great reminder ❤

That's very nice. I get some people smile but I get people being totally the opposite. People seem to tar everyone with the same brush when they have been in different situations with shepherds and then there the internet and dog trainers freaking everyone out with the horrible stories that they seem to show so they get people to train their dogs or that dog will attack. Crazy really and no one will love their dog as much as their owners will. Especially when it's a war with dog owners these days that is pretty sad. Nice morning post though.
