studboyinus she is. She always was good on camera + always had good chops as a singer and dancer. She wasn’t some zero talent girl. She had talent in spades.

Yes, she is. I won't pretend she's my favorite entertainer -- she's excellent at what she does, but what she does isn't really what moves me -- but I admire her 100% as a human being. She has a kind heart, and brave soul, and a deep and wonderful intelligence.

Cavett’s interviews are almost always fascinating to me. He had the best guests and usually got the best from them..

He is amazing. He puts them at ease and is so calm and gentle. And yet at the same time he stays in command, driving the conversation in interesting directions, sometimes with very dominant or prickly people. He can somehow remain in charge while being welcoming.

We need more interviewers like Dick Cavett. Man I bet no one back then thought Cher would still be out there today, selling out arenas into her 70s.

Cher is delightful here. Candid, personable, & quite down-to-earth yet still fascinating.

Her inner self is deep and spiritual. I love it.

Living in the UK I never had the opportunity to watch Cavett so I'm grateful to KZread in 2021. He was the best.

Yeah, I grew up in Australia and, being a chess nerd, saw his interview with Bobby Fisher. Dick is amazing, huh? So classy and intelligent but still very human. Happy to let his guests empty their hearts but always ready with a line when necessary. Peeps here like Johnny Carson, but he doesn't have the depth and sophistication of Dick. From your neck of the woods, Parkinson was a good one too (and on air in Australia, unlike Dick).

@@DavidSchilter I wasn't aware of either until the internet and KZread came along. Stylistically Carson and Cavett come across as very different interviewers (tho interestingly both were serious comedy writers before becoming famous). Carson mostly kept the mood light and upbeat. My impression is that unlike Cavett he was personal friends with many of his guests (?) which helped in that regard. Of course I was aware of Parkinson growing up in the UK. For a time he had a rival on ITV called Russell Harry. If you want an example of a " serious" interview try and find the latter's interview with actor Dirk Bogarde. It's a belter.

Being Successful and articulate is not the same as being a kind, caring, humanitarian person.

I never watched tv during Dick Cavetts hay day......he certainly has more intelligent conversations than Carson or others from that time.

I agree too..his style is to focus and take an interest in his guests..simple style, and non egocentric and a likeable man which helps people feel at ease. The best of the interviewers!

Totally different type of show yet; from time to time Carson would have smart people talking. The conversations were much shorter, though.

@@brainsareus That was the problem with The Tonight Show…segments were too short where Dick would have one guest for an hour. Also Johnny rarely expressed political views or anything remotely controversial.

Why she ever thought she needed to change her looks I will never know... she is the ultimate beauty

I never heard cher interviewed and she has internal wisdom , I like her .

I think this man is the most respectful individual in his interviews

DAMN her interviews are almost as good as her singing/songs...she was totally delightful!!!!!

Love Cher , great singer and a definite beauty , all be it in an unconventional way . She was smart too .

I would've tried to save them both, Janis and Jimi NEVER had to kind of support and family they needed, they where both very lonely, I miss them.

cher is incredibly refreshing as an interviewee the way she simply ANSWERS questions--an interviewer couldn't ask for more (one would think) . . .

I have loved this woman since I was a small child and I would play my moms sonny and Cher records and then I saw moonstruck and mermaids in the same year when I was 9 or 10 and I was hooked. Those movies remain some of my all time favorites. After that I taught out every.interview I.could read or record. She is such a good example for women. She stands up for herself, she's honest, she doesn't tone herself down to what she thinks other people may like. But it turns out shes not really that wild and crazy or abnornal. Unapologetically herself and I wish so bad that I had more of that confidence and beauty. She is amazing. Cher is always great to listen to in interviews. Her words cut right down to the truth. Her slant on religion is pure common sense. And yes, Cavett had was a great interviewer, but Carson had a class that can never be topped.

@@douglasstaggs6796 It's all opinion. Two great interviewers. Carson conveyed a more confident, professional atmosphere. Cavett, a more "average guy" atmosphere with the sort of an unscripted meek "nervous" style of speaking. Both great though, just different styles.

I think they both come across as affable, interesting and genuinely liking each other. I would feel comfortable talking to either of them myself.

I fell in love with cher as a young teenager and now as a 60 year old man I still love her!

She did save someone. The singer or guitarists from the Average White Band. Unfortunately, no one else took the lead and tried to save the drummer, Robbie McIntosh.

@@edmccaffrey1 I'm 5'8" and I read at one time (many, many moons ago) she and I were the same height/weight. Probably because you're tall she seemed shorter.

I knew someone named Annette who looked like her . . . in the late 80's. Nice person.

At various stages of her life Cher was absolutely beautiful. She was always talented,intelligent and honest. Very likeable.

Good stuff.

Those were interviews in the good old days, cavett is a great host.

Cher sure has evolved. This is not easy to watch and listen to.

I kept fastforwarding and rewinding, trying to find where she talks about Janis and Jimi. No luck. I like Cher. I have nothing against her. She's intelligent and seems genuine. But I was interested in how she saw a figure like Janis. That might have told me something. But there's nothing there. "Clickbait"-- sadly, yes.

@@bcatypical: Well, SHE acknowledged the drug aspect, not the 2 people the title claims she discusses. He could've said "like Billie and Doc Holliday" and she would've given the same response. The title is "CHER talks Hendrix, Joplin...", not "Someone in Cher's presence mentions Hendrix, Joplin, she ignores them completely, gives brief generalizations about the topic of drugs but she actually does talk about faith" Clickbait.

Clickbait if you're clicking for Joplin and/or Hendrix. And why else other than clicking would these vids even be here? That's how you watch 'em. I've never understood the term "clickbait". All posts, except for a still image, are posted for clicking upon. If you click on something, and it wasn't what you expected, then what's the harm? Oh, you lost half a minute, maybe one; if it's a video, a few mins ...big deal. If you're surfing around, and clicked on a post to begin with - especially one on a popular entertainer - then you're obviously very accustomed to wasting time anyway.

It's crazy and doesn't make sense, so it's perfect for our times!

Raquel Welch was a well-known actress in the mid-late '60's and '70's, of Native-American descent. She generally was cast in so-called sexy roles, but was well-respected. She still performs today, I think. Finding that footage may be quite a task, but look and seek.

have nothing against the other celebs that were on this show but is this channel ever going to show the Dick Cavett shows where he interviews Jackie Gleason or Art Carney? How about any Honeymooners actors that were part of the main cast? These are rarities much like the other ones.

That was always the problem with Cavett. Not only did he ask stupid questions, he also interrupted his guests all the time, didn't let them finish. Carson always let his people speak.

@candom rommenter Just how long did he last? Could you please remind us? He got kicked around different stations, different time slots and eventually got kicked off TV altogether. If you want to see how a show should be run, just watch Johnny Carson in action. He was around for thirty years! And he didn't interrupt his guests, either. Super Day Day is absolutely right.

credit where credit is due. with all the adulation that came her way she still continues to be self-defining her music never grabbed me. but the person totally does.

Cavett dull as dishwater here.....zzzzz.. cure for insomnia...innane questions, rambling on... Cher saved it being interesting.

I prefere a dull host than the Letterman approach....really listen to Cavett (boring or not) he gets people to talk...and lets them talk.

in japan only yakuza have tattoos. the flower tattoo she mentions is the symbol of the japanese monarchy.

People have told me some people become addicted to the painful sensation of the tattoo needle.

I love Cher and this isn’t a criticism, but she was not the first woman to show her bully button on TV. It happened twice on Star Trek in the sixties and also on at least one other show. Cher was *among* the first but certainly wasn’t *the* first. I suspect people around her begin to say that and soon even she believes it.
