If you are vegetarian and can tolerate bland meal (steamed vegetables) salty pretzel snacks on flight then by all means choose Lufthansa. And German only sign boards in Frankfurt. I did once in 1996 (first time to reach Washington DC via Frankfurt, A-320 and Boeing 747).

Chennai Airport cannot handle Airbus 380. Try once and you will know the difference. You may have to book Emirates and go either to London or New York to get a feel of A-380s.

All the international flights arrive and takeoff when the whole Chennai goes to sleep. That is between just past midnight and very early morning like 4.00 AM. Thai airways first to Bangkok, Qatar airways to Doha (onward connections to London, New York), Lufthansa to Frankfurt, Emirates to Dubai (London, New york onward connections as well). Sometimes the check in line extends all the way upto the entrance gates and may take more than an hour to clear immigration. Pretty busy in the night. You might occasionally see celebrities flying overseas to UK and the USA. One time i saw film director Gautham Vasudev Menon flying first class in Emirates (during VTV times in 2010). My choice is always Emirates irrespective of ticket cost because you can do duty free shopping in the worlds largest chain of duty free shops in Dubai airport.1

Then go check out the big guys of India like Mumbai Delhi and Bengaluru those airports are like heaven and have a lot of traffic than Chennai and a lot of unique airlines

First it was thought they are deploying their aircraft to more high yield & high density routes because of the Olympics in Summer this year at Paris and were to resume flights this October. But it seems they have taken Chennai off their schedule even from October. So it’s seems uncertain that they would resume flights to Chennai in the near future

As a tamilan what other choice you have? Fly from Bangalore, Mumbai or New Delhi? Chennai is best suited for the Southern Indian flyers. I once flown via Kannur airport in Kerala. Pretty quiet new and swanky and located beautifully on a hill top pretty close to the mesmerizing western shorelines of India.
