I am a Flute majored doctorate candidate and currently preparing a dissertation. I will likely write about the recent trend of arranging violin repertoires into the flute version, especially violin concertos. To be honest, I was standing on the negative side to the attempts before I got this video. Because I haven't found any artistic and soundestic charms from those romantic era's works. But this performance let me escape from the firm stance where I stayed. Thank you for convincing me to broaden my horizon. I look forward to listening to this magnificent performance again on the stage with a grand orchestra!

Wow! How's that going? I'm an undergrad doing my senior thesis on how many virtuosic romantic works, especially violin ones, would suit the flute very well, and perhaps even would've been written for the flute if only our current design of the Boehm flute had already established itself strongly by the time of the work's creation. What are your thoughts?

Why should the violins have all the fun? I have been taking from the violin repetoire for decades. But also; much of the guitar repertoire of Spanish music is taken from piano and many people think those pieces sound even better that way. There’s the violin version on IMSLP that I arranged for the flute as you see here. The arrangement is all handwritten with notes in the margins though! 😅
