I just had my first treatment today. They kept me in a private room for the first one so they could watch me very closely in case of allergies or other problems. I did really well so far. Biggest problem I had was the port wouldn’t give blood. It flushed fine, nothing hurt. I got a nap in and then spent the rest of the time snacking on peanut butter crackers and water watching TV. It took 5 hours all together. The tips in this video is really good! I felt so good after I got home I cut all my hair (to be in control). Hydrate! My best tip! 💚💐

Sounds like things went really well overall. The port not drawing blood means the port is probably up against the wall of the blood vessel. Your treatment team can help you with this, including having you move your arm in different positions. They will know what to do. All the best to you.

Great coverage on needs. I highly recommend the note pad & pens. I also kept a rubbing stone in my hand it truly helped calm my nerves & helped me focus.

Excellent tipps. Wish I had found them earlier... ;-) But I did quite well. My personal tipp what helped me the most: beautiful music. I was so tired because of the antihistamines, I could never read one word. All the best for all cancer fighters! ❤ Beate from Germany

It's hard to know what might be causing this symptom. Our recommendation would be to let her medical team know about this and to ask if it might be due to irritation of the esophagus.

After chemo, your oncologist or primary care doctor should be able to refer you to a radiologist. They typically coordinate with other specialists to ensure you receive the necessary follow-up care. We hope this is helpful.
