He's got a great sense of humor about himself... And she's got one of the strongest abilities to use brutal, deadpan remarks to put pressure in the right places to get us to not take ourselves so seriously. People who don't get her seem to just hear someone who is mean-spirited maybe...? I just think she's amazing at bringing you into this world of hers where you look at the brutal truth, but taking nothing seriously at all.

Well.. her jokes aren't really jokes. But she looks at the audience each time after expecting a laugh and everyone including Conan just stay silent. If Conan aint laughin, it aint funny.

I'm not so sure it's a persona (if by that you mean an act she puts together) - I think she's just got a naturally brutal personality style... And I just can't help liking it a lot. It's funny, because I generally have a much softer style... not quite like Conan, but sort of... but her deadpan aggression just hits all the right nerves.

Not trying to push you to feel any particular way about it, but part of what makes it work for me is that she's brutally honest, usually means it to some degree, but actually does have a kind of endearing affection behind it. She's harsh and cold AND she's also not trying to make people be something different than they are. I think it's actually a really pure form of comedy, because it's not the big elaborate thing she pokes at to arouse our sense of humor - it's the subtle, precarious, awkward, strange and uncomfortable facts of simply being human.

@@nyxi6689 Well he IS fat, and probably he IS also insecure about it (although he keeps on being fat, like it's an infectious genetic disease that infected 50% of occidental population since '45). It's quite funny the way she say's it, and Andy is quite a fun guy and reacts quite well. If he got pissed with it he wouldn't sit next to her for half a dozen interviews, so go protect a minority elsewhere.

Andy Richter is humble but he is an underrated comedy legend! Truly one of the funniest people alive! Chelsea Handler is just one of those people whose fame remains a mystery.

I wanted Andy to slap her soo bad!

uhhhh nope. Her contract was up and for about 2 years all she did was say how she was dying to leave that stupid network. If you plan on a career in television in the future please learn the difference between cancelled and ended.

I usually love Chelsea, I think she's funny and I admire her blunt honesty, but... I really don't get why she keeps picking on Andy, in every single interview there's a fat joke out of nowhere. What bugs me more is that Conan seems to pretend nothing weird or uncool is happening whilst Andy is being super noble about it. Gosh, what a bully.

Also, they actually are good friends. So they always throw jokes at each other. She also probably cares about his health, and it's her way of saying it.

She is rude to Andy. I don't like her.

She seemed to be trying to be cool and all, but she seemed very condescending. Especially the comments to andy, and even the beginning ones to conan..

As bad as she is, her show is far worse. Just pure, concentrated negativity and cynicism

I can't quite put my finger on it but other comediennes like Sarah Silverman can get away with sexist humor but Chelsea Handler just comes across as unlikable.

Best part is when Conan expresses his anger at people's shock at his hotness, and Handler chokes a laugh!! Awesome!! I love them so much!

While I agree she's a bit crude, the way she and Conan riff off each other as fellow comedians is fun to watch. Plus, Conan can take any of her jokes on his masculinity...he's great.

Its interesting because it really does mean he really did cry like a bitch when he was being slapped, and because it shows how much of a good sport he was just to laugh it off. I think he was okay letting her lead the comedy for him during the interview. In her own interesting way.

As for his laughing it off, I think it's also a matter of professionalism - just imagine how it would look if he stayed visibly 'in his feelings' after her remark. BTW - I happen to have a soft spot for Chelsea's acerbic brand of humor.

A quality I like in comedians is their ability to be funny WITHOUT being overly mean. Conan does it all the time while making fun of himself. I get it that some people need to learn how to take a joke and lighten up, but this girl is just plain rude and not funny whatsoever.

still, i felt like she crossed the line with her comment about andy being insecure about his body. there's a fine line between being pretend mean and actually mean and she crossed it. he handled it well though, hopefully he wasn't actually insulted.
