It makes me sooo sad she couldnt do beam and floor due to breaking a bone in her foot before the start of the games!!

Between her and Sam we lost two really awesome beam and floor workers unfortunately. It’s what cost us gold, forcing us to use Alicia instead who didn’t have the start value they did… and in the end the consistency of those two.

I forgot she was actually part of the team. Glad she finally got an Olympic experience and medal.

I would have loved to have seen Chellsie in the all-around! That would have been really great. Glad she *finally* made an Olympic showing, though! They seem to push the girls too hard in the training camps right before the games...too many injuries in the weeks before the important events.

There was absolutely zero chance Chellsie would have qualified for the all-around. Only 2 gymnasts per country can qualify, and there is no way anyone but Nastia and Shawn were going to get those two spots.

Chellsie was second at Olympic trials day 2 behind Shawn. It was totally possible for her to qualify to the all around in Beijing.

I do think the Americans would have beat the Chinese had Memmell been good to go. You take out sacramone on beam and put in chellsie. She never fell and had extreme difficulty. I think sacramone still would get the floor spot but she certainly wouldn't have been trying to over compensate for that beam fall which led her to trying to stick floor and under rotating the Arabian.

I respectfully disagree. If you do the math, even if the US had been perfect, the Chinese still had (combined) about a 1.2 degree of difficulty higher than the U.S overall.

There's really no way to know what would've happened, had chellsie and Sam been healthy they could've been very well scored internationally, or perhaps one of them would've made a mistake, perhaps if nobody from the US had fallen on beam after cheng fei fell they would've been in the lead and china would've gotten nervous and lacked confidence going into the final rotation and the US would've won. There's no way to tell.

+Rowan Smith The Chinese gave the us 8 tenths from a fall on beam. Had the U.S. hit strongly on every single routine I think they would have come away with that. Unfortunately the problems were with more than just Alicia.

This was *such* an amazing team. It was really too bad she got injured and Sacramone had the issue on beam that she did, those two are easily some of my all time favorites to watch.

She was the key for the US to beat China at there home turf. If only she wasnt injured. She would have scored high on beam instead they had Alicia Sacramone although she was great on beam. She is inconsistent and has a lower start value as Chelsie has. That one mistake of Alicia cosf US to loose the team gold. On paper they are unbeatable. With 3 AA World Champs. Memmel, Nastia and Shawn. Alicia was only suppose to do vault and probably floor. But not the beam which Chelsie will be doing and the bars being a former world champ on bars.
