Honestly, I'm kinda glad this rivalry between cheesecake and Dulce de Lucha is still going on, it would've been a bit anticlimactic if Cheesecake won the 2-2 score with a 2 in a row finish for 4-2, but with a 3-3 score, it's back to being a tie, and of course we get to see you both continue working on ways to one-up the other. Great fighting all around, can't wait to see Cheesecake take a bite outta the next competition!

Another killer event! The last fight was definitely close, but watching Dulce manage two fulls pins while defending its wheels from every engagement for three full minutes was incredibly impressive. I would have given them the W too, the driving was just impeccable. Well fought ✌✌

Yeah I agree! It's amazing how much energy you lose to seemingly small inefficiencies. I didn't realize that air resistance played such a big role for a long time.

@@alexsalchemy Did you optimize cheesecake's weapon's cross section for minimizing air resistance? I imagine the cross section could look like some sort of tear drop shape that changes thickness further from the center of the weapon/motor shaft.

@@willrummell3670 - I did not optimize the thickness in that way because it would be hella expensive. But most swords do exactly what you're describing. Given the restriction of having uniform thickness, ideally my weapon would be a flat solid disk with a single tooth sticking out to best avoid churning up the air, but I don't have that much spare weight. I could make such a weapon smaller in diameter to save weight, but I do want some good reach, so my teardrop shape is a bit of a compromise: it has pretty good reach, without churning up the air too much.

@@alexsalchemy appreciate the response- regarding the swords I suppose that makes sense. I never thought of why they tapered towards the tip other than keeping it light. And you’re defo right on keeping it uniform thickness. Keeping the cost down for a part that might need to be replaced every fight should take precedent. Best of luck with the next tourney- I definitely felt this one should have went your way, but I’ve loved keeping up with the journey so far.

Incredible driving and destruction shown on the side of Cheesecake for the majority of the fights. To be fair the last fight against Dulche was the sweatiest amongst a fair amount of sweaty fights on this video too. Seeing that final decision in person was heartbreaking. I thought you had it hands-down. My scorecard would have been 5-1 damage to Cheesecake, 4-2 control to Dulce, and 3-2 aggression to Cheesecake. Even if you score aggression for Dulce, that still would have been 9-8 in favor of cheesecake. Unfortunate, but these things happen sometimes when it goes to the judges. Congrats on your great showing, and looking forward to getting to fight you with Hypno/Lowbot next time!

Honestly, the first time I saw this video, I was disappointed by the loss. However, after watching some more background, losing to Dulce De Lucha is pretty poetic and the kid is a great sport. He deserves a win every once in awhile, good for him!

Just a tip. Get a polarizer filter on your camera and you'll get rid of all the reflections in your videos. They're pretty cheap to get for your camera.

Also, what kind of double elim doesnt give advantage to the upper bracket finalist :/ i like the rivalry with dulce but wins like this arent really wins imo. You two are tied in my eyes. Edit: that lobot wedge is hilarious. Easily the coolest Wedge at this tourney. It's a shame the rules favor wedges so much tho, it's like you were fighting a doorstop emporium xD

Great video, I love seeing cheese caking rip his way through tournaments. Biggest thing im curious about is why there wast an additional finals round since it was double elimination tournament. This typically means the person coming from losers side has to beat the person from winners side twice to win the tournament as you are only eliminated from the tournament once you have lose twice.

Your Achilles heal has always been your driving skill and missed opportunities.

that protective cake slice did work in round 1! some great matches! i think dulce de lucha was definitely deserving of his win with some great driving on his part also... shame the shield was so weakly mounted - the sword and board made for a cool looking opponent.

cheesecake's layout is kinda cute overall! 😄but i would NEVER try to bite into THAT kind of cheesecake.😧 also, i give you, and the kid driving Dulce De Lucha great respects for your sportsmanship.👏 (btw "Dulce De Lucha" means "Sweet Fight" apparently, so i guess dulce has a sweet tooth! thats probably why he wants a bite out of cheesecake.😅 thanks for this great video Alex.

That scoring is a bit ridiculous but it does explain the number of weaponless robots youre facing. I was so confused how those robots would win but that explains it.

Hey. Incase you fight another Hammersaw [like Temper], Go make a new set of Top Armor, Likely out of TPU [the same thing the side armor's made of] or Aluminum. So you don't have to tape on the Top Armor again, unlike Last Time.

I feel like you won that last fight. My only advice would be to find a way to make cheesecake easier to drive, I realize the floor was getting thrashed at the end making it more difficult, but imo the inability to control the bots was everyone’s weakness. There’s got to be a way to make cheese more drive able, the rest is dialed in pretty damn well.

You probably know this, and also have reasons for not implementing, but you can increase the kinetic force of the spinning tooth by making it longer without adding weight.

They'll tell you the score if you ask, usually they just announce the winner and that's enough.

Have you tried messing with the control rates? Those little bots seem like a handful to control.

To be fair, rip off the forks is the typical advice for a horizontal. Dulce's mounting is just excellent and the forks themselves are beefier than the majority of others

If you make the sweet tooth reach slightly further than the spinner you can stop it from hitting the wall. This might backfire though if the sweet tooth gets bent up it will stop the spinner from being able to reach the other bot

I've thought about that, but if the sweet tooth was longer than my weapon, it could easily get stuck in the wall, and then I'd be screwed.

cheesecake somewhat channeling his hinner depthcharge at some points in these fights a lot more than in previous tournaments! There seemed to be a lot more gryoscopic force from cake's weapon in general, did you happen to get it to spin faster? or is the new weapon head just that much more powerfull?

You should name the modular attachment the Trowel or Butter Knife since those move cake slices.

That half-wedge half fork setup seems really vulnerable to you simply switching up your spin direction.

For an antweight, I like my direct drive/hub mounted system: it saves a lot of weight and complexity. For a 3lb beetle... well, I'm going to try the same approach, but it may not work out given how hard those robots hit: having my weapon motor out in front might be suicide.

Well, the modeling itself wasn't too hard (I'm very familiar with CAD, specifically Onshape), it was the design that took a while to create: how the frame is constructed, how the drive motors are held, etc. That was at least a couple months' work before I made the very first prototype.

can someone explain to me the tap out i mean i understand that if you tap out you forfeit but why would you do that if you still have a chance to win????

Well, it depends how good of a chance you think you have. If it's a pretty low chance, and if you can still accept a loss without falling out of the tournament, then you might choose to tap out to avoid taking additional damage and being unable to repair your robot in time for the next fight.

Yeah my weapon actually bent a bit from all those hits it delivered; you can see it in the final picture of Cheesecake.
