Hes not really teaching them a 'race' thing but more so a culture thing. I suppose its how his race predominately acts in that environment but is a self critique (and probably written by or ok'd by Cheech) and is light hearted andinnocent enough,, it still works. . Its like I watched this video recently on 'whomp there is is' and a song was released the same time 'whoot there it is' ... neither copied the other, just one part of the city said it one way, and the other the later. For all we know what hes teaching them would get them killed in West LA. So its not so much a race thing, but a culture and environment thing.

Born in East L,A
I enjoyed watching the very American phrase of “what’s happening”, through its Chicano journey to “waas sappening”, all the way to end up sounding ironically like a southeast Asian language, “wa sa pa ning” 😂
This brings me back to the good ole 90s!
My favortie part is the picture of Jesus on the wall with the phone machine behind it. " Hey go get me a beer" lol

No matter what the race, if you walk by someone saying “Wasapaning” they’re going to do The Cheech right back 😂

Growing up in a very multicultural environment it was a ton of fun with the blending of the languages, customs and jokes. Never had any large beefs and everyone got a long well. Fun times fun times.

Back when Daniel Stern was at the height of his fame in Home Alone, my wife and I were on the road when our car caught a flat in the middle of a snowstorm. A nice man came and changed the tire and sent us on our way without asking for anything in return.
