CHECKER CLASS...THE POWER OF FORCE

Ойындар

The power of force in checkers. When we combine the other elements of Time and Space with Force we improve our game. We start off with a problem based on force, then we have an exercise to help with our visualization. Next we play a game with the Kelso opening that is called the "Octopus".

I agree an amazing game. i know a lot of players who play in their 70,80 and 90 and they are very competitive. I think the age from 4 to 97 is what i have seen. Keep on playing and having fun. Thank you for your very good comment.

Actually. On vs Computer games, the rule is red must stop at crown giving white a move and opportunity to cover up or at very least get in position to draw.

Can I ask you what size pieces those are? The board appears to have 2" squares. Are those Pool checkers at 1 1/2 inch diameter?

Hi Joe! The size of the pieces i have is 1 1/4 but 1 1/2 also I think is good for 2" squares. It all depends what you like. Bob Newell's "The Checker Maven" i believe has a article on the checker sizes and boards. You might want to check there also. The ACF store. American Checker Federation has both pieces and boards. You also can find the pool checkers on Amazon and usually in stores that sell Chess equipment. I hope this is helpful. George

checkercycle . Thank you George! Are the pieces you are using on this board the 1 1/4" pieces? They look perfect. ACF store only has "regular" 1 1/4" pieces right now, not the "pool" 1 1/2" size.

I bought the regular size pieces and have a board from the WCDF.

Joe, the pieces are 1 1/4 " and the board is 2" square. The pieces are made by Crisloid co. of Providence, Rhode Island. I just checked out "The Checker Maven" and i saw a set that looked like the one i used but the pieces looked like the 1 1/2 " size. Just incase you want to get an idea. I have a few different boards and pieces. Some larger with the larger boards.

Very deceptive sequence of moves, which is nice, I feel like against many players it would give a false sense of security thus allowing you to go in for the kill. But it also seems very risky, like at your first demo match if I were white, what if I saw that last trigger you setup and knew not to take the bait?
