CHECKER CLASS..GAME 7
Ойындар
THE Edinburgh Opening. We go over a famous game played by Alfred Jordan (red) vs Sam Gonotsky (white) where a new move was played making it a tough cross board game against a hard opening. The pitch and the squeeze idea and the round about shot for a 3 for 2.

Hi friends of George (checkercycle), I know I can speak for all of us when I say I wish he would continue making checkers videos. His teaching style makes the game fun and easy to learn. I am trying to fill the void in his absence, and have put efforts into making more videos aimed at beginner checkers players. My goal is to make more videos in his style, as his impact on both the game and KZread community cannot be understated. George, if you read this, please know we are thinking about you and sending you our best wishes your way.

My condolences for your great personal loss. I feel like I know you as a friend even without knowing your name. So glad you have resumed your excellent series as soon as you could. Like many of your audience, I own many books in which I could and sometimes have researched the ground you cover, but I find it a pleasure to watch you so gracefully lead your friends along these classic checker pathways. Your efforts are much appreciated.
Thanks for the lessons. Sorry for your loss. Maybe we can meet in a tournament sometime.

George thank you so much for making all these videos and for your experience and humility. My dad was Ireland draughts champion in 1961 and 1963 and stopped competing but always studied the game. He passes away in ‘94. I can’t tell you how much he would have enjoyed your videos. I’m so sorry to hear of your own loss. I hope you’re keeping well. Warmest regards Joe
My deepest sympathies
Sorry to hear about your loss, I hope you keep strong and continue following your passion with checkers!

I'm so sorry for the loss of your wife. It is so difficult to lose someone who you've shared your life with and loved deeply. I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. I've learned so much and I appreciate all the time and effort you put into these videos to teach us Internet strangers about checkers. Maybe I can consistently beat my husband at checkers now. I've got backgammon, now I need checkers.

Will you be making any more videos? They have helped me a lot!
Great video, it has helped me refind my love of checkers. What has the ACF been up to these days? Is it still active?
Hello checkercycle, Thanks a lot for your videos- they are really helpful! I watched many of your videos, sometimes multiple times. And I think I learned a lot and improved my play. Again, thank you, appreciate it!! I wonder, if you could help me and give some advice for endgames. Maybe there is a video in your channel that helps. I often start out quite well, being equal in terms of number of men and position. But with 6 men or less I often experience the frustrating situation that I'm set-up for a double, sometimes triple of even quadruple jump. I had this even when I was up a checker (king) or more and the game should be a clear win for me. I would like to learn how to avoid these pitfalls and hopefully learn how to set these up on my own...! Regards from Germany Joachim
Hi long time no see your new video ,do you plan to continue?and I have one question how do you think red what is the strongest tactic?
Please do more videos, they are really good, and could you please make some tutorials how to win damas checkers?
I'm sorry for your loss. [F]
I have a stupid question; do most expert checker games end up in draws?
@checkercycle
7 жыл бұрын
AmyAnn, it is a very good question. In the GAYP style (Go As You Please) a lot of the game and variations are well known and study by the Masters and Expert. They tend not to make the mistakes that is common with Amateurs and Beginners. So at the top levels there are more draws, but a lot of fight and you can learn a lot. With the 3 Move Openings like the one in (Game 1-7) one side gets an early advantage and can work it into a win. But you as a players get to play both sides. If you can win the stronger side and draw the weaker side your are doing quite well. Thank you for your question.
Why arent you uploading videos anymore ?
This man just got me interested in draughts... I hope he's doing well. :)
I wish that more people could know just how beautiful and challenging checkers can be. Your channel is wonderful! Are you going to make more checkers videos soon?

Hi Mitch! Thank you and welcome aboard. I hope to do some videos in the near future. I also like chess and i recently played an International Master Maurice Ashley he was playing 25 players at the same time. it been about 20 years since i played and i did it for fun, I was the first one out. Kinda wish it was checkers instead.
Sorry for your Wife,
Hi checkercycle! I was wondering if you have an email I can contact you at?
My condolences
I hope he is doing well
When more videos? Also hope you're ok checkercycle
I am sorry to say but I have just spent an everning trying reaserch the sport of checkers to find little information aside from your videos. I can not find anywhere that lists the basics, nor contact information for governing bodies etc. If it is this hard to find information on the sport, I have no idea how you get newcomers into the game. sorry but I have tried - I think I am better off going back to chess. Such a pitty as I really wanted to learn :(

Are you still making videos?
in the old books why is white reference to as red... for example you often times see written.... WHITE (RED) to move to draw.
At 6:43 there is an error. The correct move for the white player is 26 to 23, to prepare a triple shot. In every case he gain one checker
