Result of Pressure difference. Since, Pressure= density × g × height. Thus, directly proportional with height
Upon compression of the bottle, the straw gets compressed, hence decreasing the volume of the straw and paper clip setup, and since uptrust is equal to density × volume × acceleration due to gravity, the uptrust on the setup decreases causing the setup to sink
P=(density)(g)(h)...all comes down to that

It typically air, when it been pressed it sucks the air out making on atmosphere for it to float, water is 800x of air, for those thinking if its no vacuum that causes it, well your wrong cause water pressure object from outside.
