new part number is meant to be stronger with thicker mesh.

Is that a steel webbing inside the rubber to reinforce it? I can make out a pattern with the new one.

Quite often, nearly always, there is a webbing but it's not steel. It's usually fiberglass thread I believe.

How many $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ does that puppy cost?? I guess the next time I have my under panels off I will check for rubbing. Thanks How many miles on that car??

14k miles. The customer sourced the part himself, shipped overnight , no idea what it cost him.
