I have seen this dude coaching 6 year old kids at wrestling tournaments. The at the time Heavyweight Champion of the World screaming like a regular guy, wiping his head down with a sweat rag, totally into the little kids getting after it. No way you can fake that. Never seen him brush off a star struck kid who wanted a pic. This man is the one of the best things for amateur wrestling around. He gets it. He knows the sport offers everyone something. Wrestling needs DC, but it sure looks like DC needs wrestling. Bravo.

I had a similar situation when visiting the Gracie Academy in Torrance, CA. It was a random weekday, dropping in and taking the morning beginners class. I got there a little early and I go change in the locker room. Rener and Ryron Gracie are in there, getting dressed and (one of them, can't remember who) also wiping down and cleaning the shower area. They greeted me and asked me my name, reason(s) for training, etc. Nice guys. Then, THEY were the ones teaching the morning BEGINNERS class! They were showing basic techniques to guys and gals starting out. No assistant(s) teaching, no showing up at 3pm to sit in their office and count their money, no contract cleaning crew wiping down the Academy showers. THEY were doing it.....I believe, because they LOVE TEACHING Jiu-Jitsu! I'm sure DC loves wrestling and that's why he's out there DOING it. Can't fake that or buy that or "train" that. You gotta have it in your heart!

Cormier's story is my absolute favorite wrestling odyssey When he competed, there was always somebody one step ahead of him. Cael in college. Heidari in freestyle. Jones in MMA. Now he's #1 in a category that never existed before, the crossroads of college wrestling, international wrestling, and MMA. He reaches kids the same way he connects to world class athletes. I would love to see this facility someday.

DC is building men for the future.

I love this. DC is such a humble guy that just enjoys what he does. "I won't replace the wall, those are memories." He values the people in his life, and wants to build up the next generation. If more people were like him we'd be a better society

Dude this is so awesome!! I wish I could have had something like this when I was in high school or someone like DC for a coach. Talk about hitting the lottery for those kids not just in wrestling but life lessons they will learn from DC. Seeing this and feeling the regret I have for my wresting career and what could have been really makes me want to start a wrestling club like this where I’m from.
