Of course, in 1980, the NE looked like it had already been nuked...

I lived through it only in the Southwest, which I can assume was at least somewhat better so your statement is accurate
Thanks for this @War Precautions. My mother's side of our family is from the North-East of England.
well done for finding this, excellent work!
i hope you post more soon. this channel is a treasure trove!
1:16 Strange use of Pink Floyd's 1972 song Childhood's End as the transition music.
My parents still live in the north east were as I now live in Tokyo. My dad was in NATO and he thinks that we need to start thinking about bunkers yet again.
1:32 to 1:52 doesn't look like footage from Hiroshima or Nagasaki, that looks more like a hydrogen bomb
The footage of those bombs being dropped on Japan were haunting.

Those were only 15 kiloton bombs too, considered small by today's standard, almost low yield tactical weapons.
I hate that this becomes more relevant once again, guess people never learn :(
Kenton Bar was the command centre in Newcastle.
what happened to Kate Bush?
Was that the dulcet tones of Kevin Whately in the opening narration?.

UK couldn't give a dam about us
Iv never came across someone who was roc. Odd considering it’s was big enough organisation
The northeast was a target given the chemical works and shipyards, bit like Glasgow we would have been wiped out first

Everywhere is a bloody target in nuclear war. A little country like UK would be obliterated if just few hydrogen bombs were dropped on it.
2:50, his shirt has already been nuked!
I like how he just uses his jeans pockets for his finger tips!
My eyes … my eyes 👁️👁️ his T Shirt is brighter than any nuclear bomb 🤣🤣
Another true gem in excellent quality. Very interesting, thanks. "Hit The North" kzread.info/dash/bejne/qGmuw9hrqdWpZ7A.html 9:24 The Situation in Germany used to be similar to that in Britain. Minus "Protect and Survive" and two minutes of warning time (at best).
..."and let's hope we can all find some clean radiation free air left in a few years time. See you next week" "With a bit of luck"
Durham wasn’t a target for nuclear attack but since you told the Russians where the observer corp is it has become one.
"top tips" yerrrr allll righty then.

They'd be reaching for the sun tan lotion and tying knots in handkerchiefs and putting them upon their heads, complaining about the weather.😁
