Check-in of sound system equipment after rain at an event

Another check-in video of some of the sound system components after an event that had rain. The rain was not too bad, but the wind made it worse. All of the XLR cabling, power cords, stringers, speakers, amp rack, console, and snake got wet.

This is further justification for pricing jobs the way we do. What a client doesn't see is the prep time before a gig and the check-in time after a gig to keep equipment in good shape for the next event. There is much more than just the gig itself. Glad to see someone else that takes such good care of their equipment.

I sure hope that you’re compensated well enough to cover your shop time and any damage that may have occurred. It’s obvious that you take excellent care of your equipment! Thanks for sharing this.

Really cool to see that all the techniques that you use on your gear are things that I have picked up and am already doing with my humble gear.

Always enjoy your videos. Just fyi; I've had WAY better luck coiling a long multicore snake into it's trunk as a figure 8. It comes out much nicer. And I turn the head upside down to keep dirt and grim out of the signal openings (xlr/1/4", whatever they might be).

@@stageleftaudio - I'm sure you use it too, but I find using an air compressor is a very handy tool for cleaning gear. Especially things like snake heads and other hard to reach places. That and the shop vac.

Most certainly! I use a compressor on some of the gear, especially after doing an outdoor show where there's a lot of grass and dirt involved. I try to only use canned air for the amps, consoles... anything that has to be plugged in to operate.

Do you have a video about wrapping cables? I have interest!

We do not have videos specifically covering the wrapping of cables. However, there are a lot of existing videos on KZread covering that topic. Search for "over and under" or "Roadie Wrap" for cabling.
