LOL, that's wild! I got a 'Front assist not available" after taking my front bumper off to install an aftermarket intercooler. Apparently, the VW front sensor needs to be reconfigured any time the sensor is 'moved' VW was going to charge me $1800 to turn the CEL off, at least Hyundai doesn't charge you guys! Unfortunately, this is the issue we will face due to the cars having more computers and electronics controlling our cars.

This happened to me years ago with my 2016 Ford Focus ST. I went thru a drive thru carwash and left the car running and a few mins after I pulled out the check engine went on. I then checked and reset the code with my own scanner. I tried several days later again to go thru the carwash and leave the car running and sure as shit the light came back on. Ford could never figure out the problem and I ended up trading the car in. P:S I also just washed my motor over the weekend on my 23 Elantra N and have had 0 issues after but I did just use a garden hose instead of a pressure washer.

Last December, I and another owner had our knock sensors fail within 4 days of each other when a massive winter storm roll through. Dealership replaced the sensor, haven't had any issues since. I run through the touchless wash with undercarriage wash at least weekly with no problems. I think Hyundai just had a batch of bad sensors (too sensitive, from what I understand).

Same thing happened to me,. on the interstate with my two daughters in the back, and couldn't get out of limp mode. Had to get a tow truck and wait 2 hrs, and Hyundai didn't know how to fix it. They cleared the code, and luckily it hasn't happened since them. I bought a $20 OBD-II scanner from Amazon and keep it in my EN if it happens again. Also mine was triggered after an automatic car wash. I was my car myself now and haven't had any problems.

****THE FIXX**** After a THIRD VISIT from the same issue (ran it through the wash again) they replaced the knock sensor. Since then I've been through the wash twice w/o a problem. Opening a case w/ Hyundai didn't do anything, it's why I gave them a 3 out 5 star review across the board. Infact, their advice of going to a different dealership sucked because they didn't even notify this other dealership of me coming by🤔 A simple email to them was too difficult for this rep, so when I get there the guy had NO idea about me and/or my issue. Additionally, erasing the code, something the dealership and the other dealerships idea, didn't work either🙄 I mean it did when they did it the first 2 times but not when I did it with the code reader I just bought or even when they themselves did it (maybe on Sat w/o the master tech there they don't access to the better one🤔) I'm glad it's taken care of but not impressed at all with customer service one bit here. If they could just take care of customer service they'd rule the world because the vehicles are incredible❗️

@PolishBullitt I did get to wash it tonight, a quick foam, dwell and rinse w/ free flowing hose water and dry, done in about 30 minutes...now I'll sleep good tonight😋

No issues , I go thru a long automated car wash once a week and even put it in n mode with revs for the attendant ! Almost a year of washes once a week. But do you really think a WRC championship winning manufacturer has issues with water! No you don’t need a new motor and I don’t believe your claims of them having issues with their motors.

He was going through car washes no problem like you till it happened, hopefully it’s just a knock sensor that have to be changed. WRC cars are totally different animals and they cost probably like million dollars or something like that so… 😆

@@PolishBullitt year before last Hyundai sold 30 fully caged race prepped cars for 50grand and they were purchased by independent race teams last year they sold 50 at 60,000 a piece however you are correct in that Hyundai’s own cars have way more money invested in them. That little 2.0 holds as much oil as a small block Chevy and aside from the internals is the same platform as the race cars.

Oh really? They sold fully prepared cars for rally for 50-60k but was it in US or Europe?

@@PolishBullitt I’m sure they were sold online to race team owners and shipped out their requested countries it was announced in a couple of Hyundai’s you tube videos early in the year. All part of marketing exposure and yes they sold em damn cheap knowing they would make it up in selling additional parts to keep them going.

**2nd UPDATE** After waiting for a phone call after basically telling the EXACT story to my case manager I get an email saying they're monitiring the story closely but there's no fix🤔🙄💀 I guess I'll have to go to the carwash every Saturday, drive to the dealership to wait and have it fixed where THEY will have to pressure corporate to warranty the knock sensor or atleast start there. This is NOT a position I should be placed in as a customer, not happy about this🙄💀

@PolishBullitt so I get the call just 5 minutes ago and get this...they want me to get a "2nd opinion" from Elgin Hyundai which is about 25-30 mins away, preferably if/when it does this again🙄🙄🙄 I'm "a little pissed" to say the least because to replicate the issue is probably easy based off of what happened but I don't like the idea of driving it in limp mode that far away💀 I'm going to drive there this Sat, not in limp mode but with my 2 invoices from Hyundai of Palatine, and discuss this with with their guy. I have ZERO expectations at this point and I'm dejected to say the least😔

What the heck man seriously?! Second opinion? Wtf the just screwing you around so maybe someone else will fix it!!! Damn I really thought that rep from Hyundai of Palatine would come through and help out, it’s just a stupid sensor and they can’t even do that?! 🤦‍♂️

@@PolishBullitt it's not a rep from Hyundai of Palatine, it's their corporate rep...THEY want me to go there because, if I heard and understood her right, Elgin Hyundai was better at these things🤔
