I'm guilty on a few of these - my wife actually does cut my hair (and our kids hair) because I think it is too expensive otherwise. I did try cutting my wife's hair once - several years ago - I'm no longer allowed to know where the scissors are, and my wife gets her hair cut by a professional.

I think it's because it doesn't really make a difference any more because of all the added fees from your electrical provider. We pay around $120/month but if we doubled our electrical usage, our bill would only go up by about $20/month, so what's the point?
