    When you say “rotten wood” do you mean any sort of wood no longer connected to the tree and thus able to decompose, or specifically wood already in the process of rotting?

  • @SpicyMoustache

    Both could work really good. However, You could even use freshly cut wood but it will just take longer to decompose 🙂

    I think your information is just great. From making a usable raised bed all the way to looking after a garden,collecting the bounty,to using everything you grow and having to use all of that product with no waste, using all of it with great taste. How many hundreds of potatoes I've peeled and thrown out those skins 🤔 thinking they were unusable! Throwing out the tops of carrots not even thinking about composting them or turning them into a pesto. THANKYOU Spicy Statch for opening my 👀 it's never too late even at 71. I'm sitting here muching on some crispy 🥔 potato skins.

    love you. even though i don’t have a small backyard bc my home is in the suburb, my family turned the whole thing into a concrete floor 😭 no more grass or dirt ground … so i was always concerned about starting raised beds since i never see others put them on solid ground. thanks so much for inspiring me to build one myself!

    This is so good!! I'm about to start making some raised beds in an urban garden with no soil and have been spending the last few days researching the best/cheapest ways to do this. I was getting frustrated with other KZread videos where they don't get to the point. Yours is so simple and easy to follow and the idea of the pallet collar is a really good one. Thank you :)

    I work in a factory that goes through alot of pallet collars. They just throw them away. I've been wondering if they'd be good for a raised bed, and now i know! The ones we use are for smaller sized pallets, and come with lids. If I reinforce them a little bit, i may be able to build a raised bed that I can cart around with a hand truck. It would be cool way to bring herbs to the farmers market!

    Great info, thank you. I have recently purchased 2 pallet frames at ebay and am planning to create two raised beds cc with them, using cardboard on a lawn. Did you stack up two of them for one bed, because you work on a stoney ground? Or would you recommend stacking 2 frames to build one raised bed on a lawn too?

  • @annag929
    @annag9293 жыл бұрын

    Is a good choise to use carton boxes instead foil if you have a garden with ground. Carton boxes will prevent gras to grow for a some time, the gras will rot, will come earthworms , and the soil under will great.

  • @SpicyMoustache

    @SpicyMoustache

    If you have soil underneath, it’s good! If you have concrete like in this case, cardboard is not good and this is why I used plastic sheet.

    Bravo, Alessandro! This is one of my favourites yet. A twofold question for you, do you think LeRoy Merlin her in Italy would have the pallet collars? It feels like I've only ever seen pallets wrapped in heavy plastic. And how do you say pallet collar in Italian?

    Thank you so much =) I'm not absolutely sure about Leroy Merlin but I'm pretty sure they will stock somewhere, especially because every company use it for transport and if you ask them, they might give it away for free. in italian it's called "Spalliere di palette" =)

    Hey mate, I’m looking to build raised bed in my nearly ready greenhouse, but unfortunately there is concrete floor and I can’t get rid off them, do I need this plastic sheet for metal beds? do I need to put first layer off gravel for better drainage? Or just straight with wood and soil with compost? I just don’t know about the drainage how it’s better Thanks

    Great video, thanks so much! Question, you say that in the first year the soil level will decrease and I should add more layers of compost and mulch twice a year. Does this mean that I should wait to plant anything in the first year? Or do you just add it around the plants?

    Thank you very much! Apologies if this was confusing. Basically, you can use it straight away but just keep in mind that the soil level will decrease in the first year. You can add compost around the base of the plants :)
