A PSA to everyone looking to buy one of these. This is the V2 of this car. The V1 only came with the AE86 body so be aware if that's the one you want. You can tell if it's the V1 if it has plastic driveshafts. I have the V1 and it's pretty bad. This new version has been upgraded significantly.

Hey Troy, love the channel! I've had the LDRC AE86 for about a month now and really like it. I upgraded the stock electronics with a DumboRC BL3FG that I had laying around, which was great because it allowed me to control the lights still and had a gyro already. Another plus was it was slightly smaller footprint then the stock circuit board, so I was able to stick it in the same spot. I hope you do an update video after you have upgraded it. It's a fun little car for the price.

I've had mine for a few months, I didn't realize it had adjustable links! I've been on disability for a while now and drifting this little thing around the living room is therapeutic. Clears the bad thinking, distracts from the discomfort.

I just got the gyro for this car which needs some soldering to a JST and connect to a k969 brushed ESC receiver board I put into it after I the original ESC stopped working. I saw your video and got excited about soldering the JST now.

Hi! Great video, honest review! May I ask for a advice (help)? The car doesn't move backwards, the breaks don't work either. What could be problem? The transmitter? Something wrong with the diff? The forward moving and turns work perfectly. Thanks in advance!

It sounds like either (1) the controller isn't seeing the trigger movement or (2) the ESC has an issue. I would contact the seller and see if they will replace it. I am not aware of any calibration function on this car.

@@RoadsideRC 39 olds, 64 amc rambler, 73 Nova (rat) 78 Buick skylark, and an 89 chevy truck. The olds is a nice original car, the 64 rambler is a nice solid, but shitty running car. The Buick is a clean, kind of rare driver. The 73 nova is a clapped out old drag car. Think "roadkill". lol and the 89 chevy is a 2wd shortbox project, for burnouts mostly.

@@RoadsideRC Question from an R/C newbie: It seems that R/C has two groups. 1 - Really fast cars that drive like they’re on rails or 2 - Drift cars hanging it out at crazy drift angles. Is there anything in between? Are there ways to modify drift cars so they can drift some and go faster but not too much? I’d love to race at more realistic scale speeds (not 300mph!) and deal with “scale” vehicle dynamics (understeer/oversteer). Any thoughts?

Finally a RWD drift car I can afford! 🤣🤣🤣

I have the silver rx7. The travel on the remote steering wheel was pretty uneven, steering left was a lot less than right. I had to sand down the limiter on the remote. Additionally the servo arm was not centered, I had to take out the servo and adjust the arm. It is not rocket science, but a total beginner might not get the car to perform well out of the box.

I'm working on my first smaller scale drifter... a Drift Art 3S. Ive spent more on it then some spend on a 1/10th lol. I do want the AE86 version of this car now too. :D

Mine should arrive soon. It'll be my first drifter. If you install a gyro, it will be "in line" with the built-in gyro. Is it possible to it turn off ?

My guess is it will need a full electronics replacement to upgrade, as the ESC, receiver, and gyro are all on one circuit board.

You can turn the gyro off by pressing and holding the gyro button for a few seconds. The car comes with a set of rubber tires as well as the drift tires. Quite fun to have the rubber tires and turn the gyro off for some carpet racing.

Hello! I have the same car and its been working fine but all of a sudden when i turn it on the remote beeps non stop and the throttle doesn't work. Sometimes the steering still works but the car wont move. Do you have any ideas what this could be?

Does the steering work fine (wheels move), but the car just doesn't like to drift in that direction? Check your tire scuffing/wear - like I show in this video. I expect the alignment is not quite the same on both sides.

Check the servo arm. I had the same issue. The servo arm wasn't centered. And the steering wheel on the remote wasn't centered, I had more right steering travel than left. I had to sand down the plastic limiter about a millimetre. Works fine now

cant wait to c that with hobby grade electronics n it and try removing the rear swaybar unlsess those are the springs and c how it drifts after u fix the alinment .. almost making me want to buy 1

It has a sway bar exposed under the chassis. I have never seen that before, lol.

Hello, I made a 3D printed mod for this RC... You can just turn off the gyro and use external gyro like AFRC v3, HGv4 or GT55 (Dasmikro) v6 gyro. It will be way better control than the stock gyro... Happy drifting...

@geniusch9414 I just watched the video (thank you for sharing). I do not think anything is wrong. It is a drift car - they don't go straight very well. If there is even a very small steering input...or if there is a very small difference in traction between the left and right tires....then it will start a slight turn. That is what I see in the video.

I wasn't looking for an RC drift car..... but I might have just gotten sold one lol

Hi, I bought one of these and mine does not come with a gyro. It has a different receiver PCB and hitting A/B buttons changes the steering rate and throttle rate, but no Gyro here. Car is mechanically the same. So be careful !

Yeah, my setup is now dumborc receiver and ddf350 transmitter, gt55 gyro, surpass hobby 9g, 30a brushed esc, rewire bucket servo, headlights and taillights. I can find ldrc drift for as low as 35 USD and with a dasmikros V6 gyro you're only looking at a 50$ RWD drift car. Of course fully upgraded this thing is so much smoother, but not everyone wants to spend the time and or the money. Thank you for your videos Troy!
