Cheapest Ebay Roof rack I could buy- Is it any good?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I bought the cheapest roof rack that mounts to the door frame. You'll want to watch my video to see how to install it as the instructions stink.
Here is the link to the roof rack

    How do you think it would handle with a roof rack cage or whatever with the wind fairing? just for looks obviously. You think the solid 4 corner points would make it even better?

  • @johnchoice1371
    @johnchoice13712 жыл бұрын

    I have exactly the same one which I bought recently. One important point is to make sure you assemble each end clip the right way around into the slot on the end of the ratchet piece. It is easy to make a mistake and get it the wrong way round. Also, make sure you get the key all the way into the lock, with its irregular side face up. To open the lock, turn a quarter turn anticlockwise. To close, turn a quarter turn clockwise For the money, these are about the best value you can get, but the instruction leaflet could be better.

    Hello fellow 905r. The locking mechanism is weird but if you fiddle with it it works and stays on the car. I've taken it on the highway quite a bit with no issues. I did take it off for the winter so that it doesn't get rusted in the components that I'm sure are super cheap. I also WD-40 the locking and latch mechanisms. The whistling and buffeting noises can be annoying but I've gotten used to it.

    hey, great job, is this on your CRV you've done maintenance videos? We have a 2014 and I put something similar on ours, worked great EXCEPT for when it rained, the under sill hooks pushes the gasket out and introduces a gap. the problem is that seal is the rain seal, the internal door seal is just for noise and maybe some air. We found that out the hard way when in a downpour my daughter and her car seat got soaked. If it weren't for the rain issues I would have kept the rack. Good luck and great video!

    Hasn't rained yet but I've been afraid of that. I looked around all the seals and I thought that might be a problem. Maybe I'll spray some water on it today and check it out.

    @@LadybugAdventures Rain only entered the cabin during a downpour on the highway, but there was wetness between the outer and inner door seals. That inner door seal is not a super right seal unfortunately. I had installed a SportRack branded kit, I did notice on the sill hooks were very thick on those; good for the paint not so much for the rain. Good luck!

    You might be ratcheting too tightly. I literally just got done re-adjusting my hooks for the same reason. So when you over tighten the hooks, they also flare out right at the tips. Do it on your rack and see how the clip flares out. This is my second set of these in maybe 4 or 5 years. And i carry a 18ft long boat and i love them. So i ripped of the rubber guards off, because i know they will sit good and function well with out them, they will sit flusher Compared to when the protector was there. But its either or. Too tight or the rubber protector is too thick and pushes the door gasket away.

    Insanely good value for what they are, I've bought the same racks for $45 AUD ($30ish USD) and it's perfect for loads of up to about 60kg, I've noticed anything beyond that though is definitely the load bearing limit and I wouldn't recommend trying to max out it's capacity.
