CHEAPEST BIKE on Facebook Marketplace... Worth it?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I go on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist all the time to look for cheap motorcycles…
We’ve all seen the super cheap bikes online: they have a broken engine, perhaps no title or they are just a project bike in boxes (so appealing, right?)
But today I want to see if it’s possible to find a good deal, a real one, not a bike that ends up costing thousands when finally running and complete
So I found a Yamaha YZ250F with broken engine, and we’ll fix it to then sell it for a profit 💵
Is worth it to buy a cheap broken bike and fix it?

Hi I'm Tristan!
I live in New York and when I'm not working on my fitness clothing line (yoked.net) I DIY with intensity 😅
For now, I restore wrecked, neglected or simply damaged motorcycles. So I disassemble, weld, machine and fix those bikes so they can go back on the road!

Blown connecting rod bearing on the crankshaft. $450 for a new crank or $750 for a whole rebuild kit. Gl with it. Just did mine last year.

Good luck with the build! I want to do something like this as well, now I search for cheap, not-running dirt bike, which I will rebuild and after that next one and next one. I can't let the bikes in these conditions, need to rebuild them and make them to look as new again. Looking foward to next episodes, keep up with the good work and editing!

Whether or not it’s “worth it” depends on what your plans are. I bought a 96 CR250 for $1200 and it ran(not sure how) I’m now $6000 into it, but have one bad ass vintage racer. And, I likely would have been this deep into any bike I bought for this purpose. Replacement forks(used) can usually be bought for 200-300 USD. So, don’t Let that fork get you too twisted.

That's true Richard, it depends on the bike, mine isn't a classic and I sure as hell won't be able to sell it for $6000, but I also know I won't have to spend that much into it. As usual I'll do a cost rundown when the bike is fully finished 👍

Well, I think it’s an unspoken agreeent when you buy a bike that cheap that you aren’t expecting anything after the sale is done You’ll see the tear down video this week 👍
