LOVE Stubai and Swiss Made! Back in the day, I tried cheaper brands. Saved my $ and bought tools I still use today ... 20+ years later and I still love them. Just bury me with them. 🙂 Really enjoy your channel, Alec.

You know it take zero effort to put a little dab of glue or epoxy to the handle to make removal harder. I was in China a few years ago and was visiting a woodcarving shop that specialize in those massive screen reliefs and I noted the larger tools had tight fitting but not permanently attached handles. The owner told me they prefer it this way as it made it easier to change handles when they broke..He noted and I agree that unglued handles did no worse than one slathered with adhesives.. In the same light, you will notice that Japanese samurai swords costing thousands of dollar and strong enough for battle do not have permanently attached handles. Just a difference in Culture...

This is a great video that I would recommend to any new or beginner carvers! Thanks for covering not only the quality of steel which most of us focus on but also the often forgotten grinding angle 👍

Your introduction was super well done, Sir I've got some Chinese woodworking junkie chisels that aren't worth the location for storage in my garage I think you are being honest, but I grind as I feel working. Holding up is my test Thanks

Hello Alec. I really like your work and enjoyed your comparison video. Only thought that is contrary to yours is that I’ve had a set of Buck Brothers plastic handle tools that have perhaps a 20 degree angle and the steel is beefy. I have used these for many years on tough wood projects where there is hardened pitch or burl. The Buck Brothers have durability and I don’t have to worry or sacrifice my German made tools for these tough projects like pine knot faces. Thank you for sharing and inspiring.

The Chinese tools are not polished as are others, so I wouldn't expect a polished finish. Also, I wouldn't rush to judgement on the steel quality without testing hardness and metal specs. I appreciate your bringing the cheaper tools to our attention! Thanks!!!
