Cheap Wagyu A5 vs Expensive Grass-fed

Expensive Grass-fed vs Cheap Wagyu A5
I often associate price with quality. If something costs more it must be better right?
Wagyu A5 is notoriously expensive. But there is a lot of variance in price based on the cut. For example a wagyu A5 filet mignon could cost +$200/lb, while the top round in this video was closer to just $70/lb.
The same concept applies to grass-fed beef. The grass-fed steak in this video has wagyu genetics, but since the cow only ate grass during its life, it’s technically considered “grass-fed”.
Despite a similar price the wagyu A5 top round was the clear winner on every metric. But keep in mind this is just my opinion, I highly recommend keeping an open mind!
My final takeaway is that perhaps the higher end cuts of wagyu A5 may not always be worth it when more affordable cuts taste just as good. In fact, I’d probably prefer eating this A5 top round over an A5 ribeye most days of the week!

You’ve had to find expensive Grass Fed Beef to compare it to the cheapest Wagyu Beef… Meanwhile, everyone knows that after a point the return on quality is so diminished, you’re wasting money going for expensive versions of something you can get £10-£20 less/KG.

A5 wagyu is overall really expensive. But the top round cut is a cheap cut because it's known for being very lean and no fat. So in other words: It's not tender. But when it comes to A5 wagyu those rules don't seem to apply. Point being that even getting your hands on a cheap cut of A5 wagyu is "worth it", compared to an overrated extremely over-prized grass-fed

Grain fed beef will always be more tender because there is more intramuscular fat. However the cows are fed chemical pumped grains and are kept in tiny enclosures or packed in to a small paddock like sardines. Grass Fed beef is far superior for nutrient content and omega 3 etc. Always go for the Grass Fed option . It's better for us and them .
