That bridge in the middle is insane. The way the FOH guy sets that delay and then the way Robin Zander works off of it is amazing. That big drawn out “mmmooooooooootttthhher” is epic.

The most underrated band in history. Hall of Fame aside. One of the best bands ever. Period.

I got the 1st CT album when I was 14, this song scared the shit out of me 40 years ago. I still get the cold chills on the outro. Robin Zander is one of my rock n roll heroes because of performances like *this*.

Yup- I heard it when it was released in '79 and it changed my punk-ass junior high school view of things even MORE lol Among a handful or two of song's rocked my world that hard!

My favorite version of this song. So much passion and to think how many times they've played that song yet still pour out their souls like its the first time.

if you every are lucky enough to catch it live now (which doesn't happen very often) you will see that the ending with Rick and Tom just keeps getting better and more intense. I was lucky enough to see both GHR and Heaven Tonight in the same set. If I had never seen another CT concert I would have been fine.---- of course I have seen them 5 more times since..........

Any other drummer wouldn't be the same. He has unique style. Incomparable. Glad I have this CD.

This is my favorite song of their's and damn I love a lot of their songs! I was a senior in high school in '78 and rock was changing with bands like Cheap Trick, Cars, Babies...look who is still around.

78 was the VAN HALEN initial release. Nothing else happened that year. LOL.

this band always did, and always will kick ass!

Fell in love with this song in 5th grade sitting in the middle of Iowa. Got my whole class AND teacher hooked on the band. Wore my damn record out. Sometimes the most simple guitar riffs are the most brilliant.

Saw them at Fenway Park this year opening for Def Lepard and Journey. It was sad as the Park had a very sparse crowd when they performed. Rick tossed me a guitar pick on his way to the stage and Tom flashed me the Peace sign. Getting old but still rocking!

I Have loved this band since that first album. It doesn't seem possible but when I hear live performances like this I love them EVEN MORE!

These guys have never failed to entertain. Awesome.

One of my first big albums was dream police and that journey still continues years on

12 string bass sounds bad ass and fills a song in !

Carrying that Rock And Roll TORCH...all the way to - you KNOW where! GO CT!

Tom Petersson's bass reaches in and rips your throat out. Just the way a twelve-string is supposed to.

A PIECE OF ART

I saw these guys three times. Once in Lubbock Texas in 1980, once in 84 at Six Flags over Texas and they opened for Nightranger show that was recorded live for The 7 Wishes tour. I can hear them all day long.

I write on every song video and relive the tale of meeting Cheap Trick after winning a radio contest. This was before they actually charged to meet and greet bands. The kicker was when they all autographed a photo from the Budokan tour. They are awesome and very down to earth.

Robin is the most talented and skillful singer in the world!! His passion can't be beat!

Loved every song these guys ever wrote. I can only say that about one other group. The Beatles.

I was lucky enough to be at this concert, in the VIP area directly in front of the special area for the band's families. They had camera crews everytwhere, including boom cranes and all that. We expected a world-class video production a-la Frampton Detroit. Silver the DVD was a little disappointing, but the concert was the most memorable show I have every seen.

The inventor and only player of a 12 string bass. I have seen them Many times. prefer their solo / headline shows. ALways fantastic this is one of the best recording of this song ever.

Only Robin can sing this song no mortal man should ever try

I did concert security for years. They are grumpy but they put on a 58 minute show that was the best 58 minutes I ever heard!!!!!

Whole brand totally on point here.

Was watching the TV show Freaks and Geeks very briefly the other night, and this song came on. Never heard it until then. Way cool song.

Sawn, I agree 100%! I was at The Metro, near front middle. After the song, I stood there with my jaw on the floor. The next evening, Rick was working the line of fans waiting to get it. I asked him if they were going to play Gonna Raise Hell again. He replied "we're afraid to". It may be the only time Rick's ever answered a question truthfully :-) Every time I hear that version now, even 22 years later, I get goosebumps. I was also there for Silver, but nothing tops the four nights at The Metro.
