This is what I love about music, everyone likes diffrent things and that is how it should be. This is was keeps music original. When people start trying to do what everyone else is doing, or are afraid to say what they like, sound the way they want to, then music becomes boring. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Steward Copeland was the reason I turned to splashes in the early eighties and he always had 2 and a Bell. 10” and 8” splash and an 8” Bell, all Paiute 2002. These two sound as a perfect set. Meanwhile I’ve had many different splashes as I play many different brand setups (as a drum tech and Backline rental Company). Still each splash has to be heard in person as they are extremely sensitive to weight as they are so small. Again, these sound great together!

I don't know about the durability, but the Wuhan Koi series is sounding really nice. The Western Wuhan series cymbals are pretty thin and like he says, glassy but customizable, feels soft to strike, for light hammering work a plus imo.. I'd be scared to shave Wuhans down though! They complement other manufactures pretty well as effects too.

@@georgecostanza7777 Saluda is a custom cymbal manufacturer. If they rework something, it's normally at customer request. They have their own foundry and forge. Why do you think they have a trade-in program? That helps supply themselves with bronze to melt. I have no reason to doubt my ears (and I have sampled many brands), but information that comes across like this?? Much easier...

  • @peteywheatstraws4909

@@mfbomberThat's a recent development in the Saluda manufacturing process, they used to do reworks and press/hammer blanks from other companies. The most frequent complaint I've heard about them over the past few years, is inconsistencies. Actually, that's been the major sticking point for Wuhan as well, so I digress. After my cymbal bag was stolen 8 years ago (all Zildjian), I switched over to Paiste, which has incredible continuity, even between different lines.

Hi Mike! I am only a humble Buddhist Temple handheld cymbals player, who totally agrees with you on the Saluda 8" Cymbal. To keep up my skill level, I need a pair of 6" to 8" diameter cymbals; maybe around 286g weight per cymbal; and not more than $60.00 USD. I am still looking locally, without much luck, because the sound and "feel" are important to me. People like yourself, and Zildjian provide videos that at least allow you to hear how a cymbal sounds. I have still have not found a video where someone is playing handheld cymbals in the size I am looking for. Your help is appreciated; if your busy schedule allows for it. Thank you! Blessings! 🙏🙏🙏💐

Wuhan is a great symbol, I believe their splash really does what it's supposed to do, which is be a bit more conservative and background than the larger symbols. Plus, it's sharp gold sound, and clean crispness still makes an improvement over a lot of music from years back that hasn't stood the test of time. I like it and would like to hear it in a recorded song.

Hello, I’d like to say that the Saluda Cymbals are not ’Cheap’, inexpensive is more descriptive. I’ve been playing Saluda‘s for over two years, and I’ll NEVER play another brand of Cymbals, ever again. The Saluda’s are just at home on my Hybrid Alesis Strike Pro, as they are on my Studio Pearl Masters Maple 15pc, as well as my Vintage early 80’s Imperialstars. I have 6 different complete Cymbal lines from them, with my Tesla Series my absolute favorite, in sound and looks. Thanks for the Video.

I wanted the cymbals to be recorded in the exact same location so the sound would not be altered by their proximity to the mic, this is accomplished by putting the cymbals on the same stand. By the way, you can clearly see that I have two cymbal stands in the video. I appreciate the comment, but may I suggest you spend your effort trying to bring positivity into the world instead of negativity, we have enough of that already.
