Awww my dearest Xmods... Long live Rob and Atomic Mods and the many hundreds of dollars I gave him for ways to make my Xmod absolutely unbeatable.... ^_^

@@LadyVisilena nah… they’ve been gone since around 08-09… maybe earlier. The Gen 2 Evo models may have hung around a little bit longer but not much.

I also came to say this. I had all of the Gen 1s and most of the Gen 2s. These hex mods are very similar to the Gen 2s. They were fun. I wonder if the atomic mods are still around?

I had the RSX I turned into a AWD with lights ,tires ,suspensions. I even swapped to a skyline body and shaved it down with the “drag motor in it. I just bought a miniz and was told the x mods were just “cheap radio shack garbage “ ….no. My x mod could definitely have ran laps around anything I saw at the club here so far. It is sad that they went away

That Hexmod held it's own turf just fine...especially at that price point. Great little unit.

Reminds me of “zip-zaps” to a massive degree, I remember swapping out my cars motor n tires and adding lights to them as a kid back in the early 2000s 😄

Xmods, the zip zaps were cool too though.

Hexbug bought the molds of the last generation Xmod cars, which is why they are so shockingly similar to the Xmods. Seeing a lot of people in the comments talking about how close they are, because they actually are in fact Xmods.

The HexMods do have a steering rate adjustment just above the grip. It’s only three settings but it’s there.

That's awesome! I like the options, those are definitely cool to run with the Mini Z and the Mini Q.

Got a hex mod truck after Christmas sale for $25 for me and my bro. Love how many customizable parts are included. This is a perfect entry into rc i think, you can customize so much right out of the box and has good speed. The instructions also have pre made mods for drift, drag, race. I specially like that we can spend time together and he can learn the effects different parts have on performance.

So the question I have is can the Hexmod take the tires from Kyosho? Same with the motor...? Could one of the cheap ones be loaded down with the expensive hop ups?

It seems like I can put a mini z body on the hexmod. Have you attempted?

Seems to me like it would be a great entry level for a younger kid before jumping all in into the hobby grade cars 👏👍

Question I have is what gears and motor were you using on the Hexmod? Was it geared for top speed or acceleration?

Seeing these just makes me wish they would bring the X-Mod line back. I ruined all of the ones I had a kid, I was too young to really understand what I was doing.

I have tons of xmods and a few mini z. If you want the same performance, control,and speed on par with the mini z install a losi micro t esc/radio into the xmods.

Will the miniz body fit the hex mod?

You could do with the TRAXXAS drag light kit, I think it has been re-released as originally was for their 1/8th Funny cars, I wish they would re-release these, I would buy a couple.

Hey Mark what is your favorite car to race?

Race one like you got seems around 100 bucks on ebay. You can find a mini z rwd for 179. I would like to share that a k989 is less that the good hex bug. Intresting to see low end hobby grade overlap with top tier toy grade. I like toy grade repairs and motor swap. Full electronics swaps are great with a front end rebuild. It would be wrong to buy one of these to rip it apart when i can spend 100 on more mini z awd upgrades. Fantastic video. Just what i needed.

I got the red one not to long ago for Christmas and it is pretty fast, I have drag races it against my traxxas slash and it is relatively quick, though the front steering gets pretty weird after few crashes and it causes it to sway. Still an amazing toy, I almost thought about 3d printing a custom body for them. Pretty awesome

If it’s swaying try tightening the wheels. If it doesn’t work, try removing the front wheel hubs, and put it back on. If that doesn’t work, deal with it. I’m no pro.

Hexmods... Reminds me of something else I still have in my closet.. A little 1965 Mustang from the Evolution Street Generation 😏😎 They released a new truck version and I'm actually going to go pick it up today, it looks pretty sick..

That is a lot of fun for half the price, and the speed of the Kyosho isn't DESTROYING the Hexmod. Question I can not find the answer to, Can you swap the Yellow and Red one's bodies, because the red one is marketed at about 30% faster.

Two years later, hiw are the hex cars holding up?

These are great gets your kids wrenching experience as a entry level drive around the house car before you go out and spend 300 to 1000 on the hobby and they decide they don't wanna do it.

The hexmods Vulture is like a purple Hoonitruck. RIP Ken Block. I might just suck at driving but those hexmod cars look like they handle better than the truck.

I've never understood the price tag of the mini Z's. They still outperform most other options, and the body shells are nice but this is 2022 and they still run AAA batteries? You can buy RTR 10th scale models that come with a lipo battery for the same money. From other videos, the hexmod only fails in terms of steering control but then it is half the cost. It's a shame the flexible track sections cause the car to get stuck.

I feel like the Hexmod is a great place for anyone to start "do I even like tiny RC cars?" and those of us who just beat around the house floors... what's the point of a $200 rig to race inside my house by myself with my cats? Feels a bit overkill.

I bought a Hex mod and loved it so much I bought another just to make 1 of them all wheel drive. I bought a RadioShack XMod thinking theyd be "made better back in the day" and it the tires were literally getting caught on the body as I turned. Going straight didn't do any better. The Hex Mod far outperformed its predecessor. I'm only keeping the xmod because it cost me a pretty penny and because I'm still determined to fully mod it just to maybe prove myself wrong.

Hex’s mods are the customizable cheap beginner rc cars while expensive one ar made for more serious rc enthusiasts

Funny thing, I put ground effects lights on all my best miniz bodies. I'm gonna do a mod video for LEDS on miniz bodies one of these days so others can copy my technique since I'm good at electronics. I LOVE my z and when I had better income I was spending an ungodly amount on parts. My z is probably worth 500 or more in parts alone. Wish I could still afford to splurge like that, being disabled sucks.

You can take diff gear from a hexmod car and put it in another hexmod car and make it 4x4
