Cheap, quick, easy, temporary fix for stolen catalytic converter. Ford E450 RV Class C motorhome.
Warning to all RV owners: catalytic converter theft is rampant! Our Ford E450 Class C motorhome was targeted while in a storage lot near PHX airport. We were in a bind because our V10 engine was incredibly loud without the stolen converter, and we couldn't find a mechanic who could repair it immediately.
But we found a quick cheap, and easy temporary fix with just a few parts and a handheld impact. It's not pretty, but our 3" 18 inch exhaust extension, flexible extension, along with three clamps, did the trick in less than 15 minutes. We're still waiting for our replacement converter and O2 sensor. Our check engine light is on and it is louder than stock, but we can at least get back on the road without disturbing the peace too much.
Be careful out there and keep an eye on your converters!

I'm sure you would have kept the cat.. but the surprise expense sure doesn't help. Looks pretty solid for now!

Correct, I really didn't want it stolen and nobody can get the parts and get fixed anytime soon.

@@DreamKetchers Mine was stolen in 2021. I had it covered by insurance and a truck shop had the job. Their parts guy searched for a year for the parts on my 1997 Ford e 450 triton V10 motorhome. Terrible. It's been a nightmare. We're finally getting a welder to come out and install the new cat. But Thank you for posting this. This is a great fix for getting back on the road. It sounds like a jet engine without the cat. Had earplugs and still ridiculously loud.
Hey!that works!
I have a old 2001 e250 have rattling from my cats. I was thinking of eliminating them, any one have any thoughts
If you live someplace where they don’t do emissions testing a cheap fix will work.
Permanent solution for me . I have already pay for that two times. If police can not find thieves is not my problem . A lot of wasting time , thousands of expenses , if they can not deal with 100 -200 junk yards then better plant some trees for my polluting exahaust.
