Cheap Jeep Soft Top! How To Install (Plus Review).

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video we install and review an inexpensive soft top from Sierra Offroad. This was for a 1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ. The new top included the door skins but we did use the original metal frame. The soft top was well built and I was able to install it alone. Below is a link to Amazon for the Soft Top. Thanks for watching

Been using mine for about two years now on my TJ. I run with soft top w/ full doors year round cause I'm too cheap to buy a hardtop. Performs well fit is tight and snug. For $200, its exceeded all my expectations.

Great job on showing/explaining the install from beginning to end with zero filler. Lets all take some time to recognize the real star of this video: the sweet Levi jacket at the end.

Oh I do love my Levi jacket. It is just getting broken in. It’s only 15 years old. Oh and the soft top is holding up well too!🤪 Thanks so much for watching.

Do the door uppers inside your house. Do it on the carpet and use your body to help push the frame and all. Plus in your house is typically warmer.

I’m glad it helped. If the weather is worm. Just set your top out in the sun for a little while and the installation will be a breeze. I have had that top now for 4 years and it’s holding up great. In fact tomorrow I will be taking it off for the summer.

If you have the existing OEM style top still - just install this new skin the same as the old one. The two hoops (mid jeep and rear) have a few snaps. Do them first. You can even do them while the top is down. Then put the top up as normal. Honestly the top skin replacement is just un-snapping off the old skin and re-snapping on the new. The door uppers take some effort to swap out. You'll get it!

@@oscarwinner2034 I agree. the doors uppers are the toughest part, but they are not bad. I usually unzip the window first.

Great looking YJ. When i saw you lay out that upper window skin i immediately laughed out loud, knowing how hard it is to fit that frame inside. By the way Quadratec has full fabric tops for $179 with free shipping from Whitco. Not sure about quality on it but it comes in all the colors.

Hi Gene, first time viewer. Awesome job sir, keep up the good work. Just a word of caution for some of your viewers, stay away from any online vendors offering similar pricing for newer four door Jeep's. I've seen some outfits offering these kits for as little as $369 w/4doors . They are simply not worth the time and effort. Michael in Toronto.

  • @DIYGene

Popping them off the door was pretty easy, you just have to slide the bottom material of the track and then the metal posts come right out. Taking the old skin off the door was also pretty easy. I unzipped the window and pulled the Velcro away. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

Hi Gene. Thanks for the great video!!👍🏻 One question please for my friend. He purchased the soft top of Sierra but no frame he said. Do you know which frame he needs to buy? Does Rugged Ridge frame kit fit for it?

  • @DIYGene

    @DIYGene

    3 жыл бұрын

I’m not sure. The top I ordered was a replacement to go over the existing factory frame. I know if you have to buy a new frame you will want to make sure it matches the door panels. Some have a rounded top corner for a full door. Sorry I couldn’t me more help.

I was able to install this in 24 degree weather but I had to get it done to prevent any more water from coming in since the jeep has to stay outside. I was able to get the doors done inside the house but it's a massive pain to get it done.

Just installed this 3 days ago, and it rained today, from the inside of the Jeep looking up at the entire perimeter, all four corners water stains reaching out forming this giant square connecting wet spot. What the heck kind of top is this that would not be able to handle rain???? This is obviously very shoddy material. I've never heard of any brand new soft top having such an issue. And the wind noise is unreal, this top is absolute garbage!
