Before spending a lot of money on equipment, Yes we need test comparisons , (do an oil analysis) to indicate just how clean the final oil would come out using filters VS centrifuge. Then we have to decide what micron level of contaminants are acceptable for totally safe to use in the diesel engine fuel system

Love watching your videos and listening to your advice and input. As you know I've been playing with wvo for 12 years and just tonight I picked up on something in your sketch that I had never given consideration to. That was using a filter before the pump which I assume is a fairly large micron filter and intuitively I know that is to keep debris out of your pump. However I don't know that this had ever occurred to me. It seems so simple now an important but it took you drawing me a sketch to grasp the idea. Thank you so much for that. I would definitely like to see how clean you can get the oil with your filter setup and either the $70 pump or the small block Chevy pump, and then run that to your centrifuge to see if it pulls anything else out for a comparison.

I like the dual stage filter. Really think it would be beneficial for keeping a low micron flowing and you'd be able to swap out the higher micron more frequently. Do you know of housings for the filters listed in your shop that would fit the filters listed there? Also, potentially a stainless steel screen filter on the inlet would prevent clogging a $20 filter. Some folks like to get leaves and rocks in the oil the give you just for the fun of it.

Crazy idea but go with it for a minute, Imagine having a filtration system that could function as you drive your truck and fill your regular tank, Have a dirty oil tank mounted and fill it up from different mechanic shops, Then filter the dirty oil as you drive using your truck for power, Then you would just need to develop a system of adding clean diesel to keep your tank at a 50/50ish blend, This is the future man haha.

He has a filter on his pump that collects the oil in his 55 gallon drums in the back of his truck, then has a couple more filters that it goes through before it hits his truck fuel tanks. Then has 2 filters under the truck . Finally, it goes the through the filter just before the engine. He's run his 5.9 for thousands of highway miles like this. Even burning coolant and all. I was was nervous when I started running a blend through my tdi because it never seemed consistent but Steve even says, from one tank to the next it runs different because sometimes you have gear oil , synthetic, ....

Some what off topic. What about filtering stored normal diesel? I have a 100gal tank I use on the farm for a kubota tractor with a mechanical pump that looks similar to a P-Pump. I also fill two 05 jeep libert;y CRDs from this tank. I avoid using it with my 2018 ram 3500. It has a diaphragm hand pump and a goldenrod 596 filter head with a baldwin BF956 filter. Its 17micron nominal with water absorbent media. I change the filter every year and the tank might get refilled 6 times a year or so. I have never had issues with this setup But think it slightly lacking for the jeep CRD's and greatly for the 2018 6.7 Cummins. Thinking of changing to two goldenrod cartridge housing(clear plastic type) 1st one with a fine SS mesh 2nd with 30 micron water block. Then an electric pump. Then a donaldson P550847 10 micron BF1212 would fit here as well. Then a CAT 1R-0750. This setup would probably also work great for black diesel. My current setup uses 3/4in NPT and I would like to keep using it, is there a filter head/housing for the CAT 1r-0750 that would accept pipe fittings that size?

I personally run as tight as filters as I can any time I filter the fuel. The golden rod for the water stop and a cat fuel or a equivalent would work just fine. I generally will just build everything to run the same filters when I do a setup for someone. That way you only have to stock one size of filters. The housing I use a oring boss. But you can buy adapters to go from that to not

I have found that the water style filter don’t do the job the way I want that’s why I use filters designed for oil and fuels. But you can use a filter that cleanable. I show a couple options that I have used

Can i run kerosene in my 12 v or 05 24 v ? Its cheaper here than diesel…. This bio diesel im using now is almost gone that my friend made last year before he passed- i got no clue what his recipe was.. its not used oil. Its not ff oil.. its a light brown in color with a hint of diesel. It burns nice and think its cleaner than diesel.. i think im getting better mileage out of it too

He likely was make bio diesel witch I used to make. It’s just a bunch of work. I will will show how to do it as well at some point. And yes you can run kerosene I would just add some 2 cycle oil to it 100 to 1 ratio is what I used

I'm in the states and would like to see a system that cleans well enough (without centrifuge) to run straight into my indirect injection diesel without using a two tank system. Filter it enough to run into my tank.

And I have tank enough to allow it to settle awhile before pumping.

You don’t have to run two tanks the way I mix it. I like to run two tanks one for extra capacity and the other in the winter here it can be pretty cold so I run money diesel

I see varying commentary as to whether its possible to use synthetic waste MO or not . Some say , cant be done at all . Others dont mention anything at all about avoiding using it . The reason I ask is that i can get plenty of used synthetic but vitually no mineral oil . Whats your thoughts on this matter ?

I run a mix of it as I would say 60-70% of oils now are synthetic. I have never run 100% synthetic ( well that I know of) I would run some and see what happens. Only difference is the synthetic is a bit hard to get a complete burn so it runs a bit dirtier
