YOU NEED RUSS IN NJ TO DO THAT
Weld everything! Awesome video boys. Fellow welder here also, combo Welder. Take everything Michael says as gospel, he knows what's up.
Right around 17:53. The main reason you use a stainless steel wire brush to prep the surface isn't so much because of "dirt in a porous surface", it is to break up the oxidation layer that is on top. If I recall, that oxidation layer melts at about 1,000 degrees higher than the actual aluminum, so if it is not broken up and cleaned off, you will overheat the aluminum trying to melt it. At best you will have a crappy weld that is full of soot, and at worst you will make a great big pile of aluminum Poo Poo. Keep in mind also, that that oxidation begins as soon as you stop welding. When we used to do the Aluminum tank trucks (Oil and Gasoline), we used to get them steam cleaned, wipe the components with acetone, then a treatment caustic aluminum cleaner, and finally a final wire brushing. As he said, it can't be too clean! Cheers!
i think mike needs a wireless lav mic. you can jsut scream at the camera as per usual then you'll both sound equal lol
I think you have the dates to A.C truck show wrong....its 17th and 18th.....not the 16th and 17th
Cool video! Thanks for the tutorial guys!
Those prime welds are bad ass those come with everything
Thanks for all the tips. I'm a beginner and all this info helps us newbies out alot !!!!
I like the Pacific punch Monster...my latest favorite.
Are there any videos with just Michael, so he has the microphone and the attention and we get the videos we like instead of the funny comments from the other guy.
Michael's hat is 🔥🔥
Great instructional. Thanks!
The stainless brush is to get rid of the oxide layer that melts at a way higher temp than the actual aluminum
So infomitive, thank you. You guys are awesome
So, do you prefer the Ahp for aluminum compared to the primeweld ?? Love the clarity of explaining basics in this video
Greg practice on your reaction times and leave on time!!!!!
the biggest problem I had learning AL was running too slow (like you see in greg's weld). you can't do that, light up form a puddle and move out. faster = less heat.
Good ole nascar box test! Fun an easy
Which of those 2 welders do you like better primeweld or ahp
There most definitely is a wrong way to sharpen the tungsten!!!! The grind needs to be in line with the length of the tungsten, if you sharpen the tungsten perpendicularly then the arc will be wide and will wander. The grind needs to be parallel to the tungsten to keep a clean and stable arc. Fact
Is it cool if I just live in your shop I’ll clean and organize all your toys I mean tools I’ll be super silent seth ?? Lol 😂
Always coat the metal you’re welding in anti-seize first! Makes it “Real nice Clark”!!!
Really random... but do you think you'll ever build another common rail 5.9?
Hard to take mike serious with that hat lol I know it's for welding just looks funny how short the bill is! Great video probably gonna pick up a primeweld soon
Cant here Mike when you move away ! Get him a mic
can you recomend an affordable welding machine for car aur cond pipes??
Rule 1 Clean the aluminum! Rule 2 don't use carbon wire brushes on aluminum. That's all lol
The reason for confusion on the leads is because the term ground is used. The correct term is WORK LEAD. It, by way of the WORK CLAMP, attaches to the WORK piece in all scenarios whether you are welding electrode positive or electrode negative. Most people don't know that it is possible to have a positive pole ground, when they hear ground they assume negative pole ground. When trying to teach it is important to use proper terminology.
Michael is a magician... skilllsss....................bro..............
As silent Mike wears a hat "dimes"!
Everlast power tig 185 dc is my go to tig
Good video! Glad you guys made this! I bought a $1000 Vulcan protig205 from harbor freight a month or so ago . Welder is pretty fancy and works good. First time welding with it and starting to get the hang of it. Mainly bought it for aluminum and stainless

After having it for a while now, how are you liking the welder?
Ole Michelle laying down some dimes. Chodie fisher might learn something from him lol. All jokes I wish I could weld half as good as them not even talking about aluminum or just tig welding alone. Keep up the great work!!
INEXPENSIVE not CHEAP.. both of those are great DIY home shop welding machines..
what was the yellow magnet thing on the vise

of course you guys have to come to town when i have a concert to work .......
Silent Mike needs a microphone for these informational videos
The race in Tennessee is it the one in Crossville im going to try and come to it saw you at the smi casual truck show didn't get to talk to you love the videos to
Whens the haircut Mike????😂😂😂
Thought I would be first to comment guess not.😂 still made it on the podium boys!
I learned more here than being around welders for 30 years
If I can do it you can do it Greg just get Mike to do it that is what I would do cause I want it done right!!!!!!
Atlantic City. July 17 th and 18th
You need a clean room for aluminium!
Top ✌️😎🇧🇷🎱
Nice hat Silent Mike (dimes)
There absolutely is a wrong way to grind tungsten.
have 2021 ram 2500 limited with 4k miles and my belt broke and the tempo got to 370 and the dealer said the engine is fine is that possible new to diesel world if anyone can give me any info would rly be great thanks

Damn 370?? Doesn't sound good to me...
👍🏻
Honestly it seems like its mostly these cheaper import welders that have this ridiculous amount of knobs and buttons - and I think its because it's cheaper to let you play with 100 knobs then have a computer in the welder do it or something not sure. My lincoln tig 200 has 1 dial and a couple buttons and does stick AC/DC tig and everything. Perfect welds every time way less worrying about setup. Not as cheap as an import welder but probably way less intimidating to someone who is new at this.

meh. a few extra knobs is worth $1k to me.
@JD-ub5ic

@@vintagespeed That's fair enough. The reason I ended up getting a lincoln is just because I was too worried buying any of the imports wouldn't be a 1 time purchase like the lincoln was. Could be I'm wrong and the imports stand up to use fine, but every video I find on them is sponsored by the makers of the welder and is almost always a box opening type review not a long term review. Couldn't trust them but to each their own, might be worth the risk for less initial cost for some. Another factor is that it was never an apples to apples comparison, the lincoln came with a foot pedal, was higher amperage meaning thicker materials (and allegedly did better with thinner materials as well), etc, so you were giving up a few other things for the cheaper price on the import. Imports probably the right choice for a beginner though if they aren't sure if they'll even stick with it or how often they'll use it.

perfect welds are not a function of a machine, but the operator. glad u like your Lincoln. I like my machines too. thx
Remeber caffine + nicotine = protine.. haha
Just one comment, move the propane bottle 😅
Only gonna be in ohio on Friday?
Great Video, Greg! Arccaptain wants to invite you to test our TIG200P welder machine. Would you be interested in giving it a try?
Great video Michael .. great welds on that dice Keep it up 👍
Howdy
aluminum is coated with an corrosion inhibitor which is why you have to brush it to remove it for cleaner welds
Primeweld is not Chinese it is American made in NJ
Alot of videos on the internet for the primeweld but not many for the ahp. Looks like the people who buy ahp get straight to business and dont have time to create content for social media, where as primewld the company paying rewards to people to showoff their products...just my 2-cents here. Or trying to make sence why not more people show us ahp's. When you spend the same dollar amount for these what would you choose..?
How is 1 amp per thousandth a lot of math for anyone? 1/8" material is .125" so 1a per thousandth = 125a... For the math challenged 1 divided by the fractions denominator= the decimal number for one unit of that fraction. For example 1 / 4 = .250, 1 / 8 = .125, 1 / 16 = .0625", 1 / 32 = .03125", 1 / 64 = .015625". If you don't understand how to read or write decimals of inches or millimetersetc then metal work might not suit you...
I don’t understand tig I prefer mig
🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
That’s not why you wire brush. It’s to get thru the oxide layer so you can weld. 🤦🏻♂️. Not for dirt. Come on if you going to do video about welding aluminum all the info needs to be correct And welding with rubber gloves is a bad idea. They weld melt and stick to your skin
