Cheap $20 UTV / ATV Winch Remote Installation
Amazon Link:- amzn.to/3s0ueUY to the updated version!
A short video showing the installation of my cheap winch remote. It took 20 minutes or so and was very simple to install. It just needs a switched hot, ground and the 2 control cables connecting to the winch solenoid. Easy!

    Based on your vid I installed one of these wireless remotes. It's been stellar. I've used it alot for pulling a trencher from the side by side. I've been out to 200 ft from the winch. No problem. I did install a simple cut off switch do deactivate the remote... Just in case I inadvertently press the remote button...

    For $20 how can you go wrong! Great piece of gear and the cut off switch is awsome! - I did hit the switch in my pocket once and the winch bent the fairlead - so that's now on my list of upgrades! Thanks for the tip.

    why did you use dielectric grease. DIelectric is for resistance. regular grease is for connection. We use dielectric grease on spark plug boots to make them easier to remove. since the power does not flow through it.

  • @TheEmporiumOutdoors

    @TheEmporiumOutdoors

    4 жыл бұрын

    The purpose of dielectric grease is to remove moisture and stop corrosion. As long as the electrical connection surfaces are tight and grease free the resistance of the grease plays no part. Best to use sparingly 😉

    +Cassol Jr The input voltage for the unit is 12VDC - but as it only acts as a relay switch - the larger relay could be anything I suppose. Hope that helps but I would read the manual or email the supplier for sure. Thanks for watching and hi from Canada!

    I installed the wireless remote yesterday. (Inspired by your video). I noticed a 1/2 second delay on the solenoid when using the wireless remote. So if you tap ‘in’ or ‘out’, the line runs about 6”. No way to tap and get just an inch of winch travel. That a not a huge deal when you’re 40 feet out but if you’re snuggling the snap hook against the fairlead you have to be real careful so as not to pull it in too tight. I have a superwinch 3500 and actually bent the fairlead back abit! I noticed similar comments on the Amazon site. Like your vids btw. FYI. Al

    Hi Craig, As the colour might change brand to brand I'd rather not give you bad advice, so read the instructions to confirm. I'd try and get a friend to help if you are uncertain about how to fit it, however, there are 4 wires - positive power (red on mine), neg ground (black), and two control wires (yellow and white for me). Connect the red and black to power and ground respectively and the two control wires to the in and out terminals on the winch contactor (small spade connectors on the lower part of the contactor NOT the large nut terminals). The fifth wire is an aerial! Hope that works!

    @@TheEmporiumOutdoors Thanks, I'm getting closer. The diagram says A, F1 and F2, and that didn't give me any clues. I saw you put spade connectors on, but I couldn't tell which ones or why. But now I understand white and yellow control in/out.

    My apologies - +ve is short for positive, ground is the negative terminal of the battery or -ve. On the contactor there is an IN and an OUT connector. The 2 other wires connect to these points. Perhaps I should do a step by step guide if you feel it would be useful. Regards Michael
