THE HMARS have several dances for various occassions and ceremonies. Most of the typical HMAR dances are still remebered and performed.
"CHAWN LAM" is the main dance performed during the harvesting festival.
"FAHREL TAWK LAM"also popularly known as Bamboo dance is the most popular dance of the Hmar tribe generally performed by youth on any special occasion. Beautifully adorned young boys and girls together perform this dance merrily. While boys clap the bamboo poles, girls perform the dance moving in and out of the clapped bamboos.
