Even though when closed the blade tab is even with scale... You can still flip it ! Try it. Hold it like you would a flipper and use your finger to operate the tab. It will work !!

Finally got mine in standard TI finish with hand satin blade just today thru Urban EDC. I had tried the smaller Street design previously but it was just a 1/4 inch short for my hand width and wasn’t worth keeping. Fingers crossed, this one will be the sweet spot when she arrives!🤞

Love my Chaves Knives. So nice. Action, feel, looks. Performance, and value. The clip is a love it or hate it but man it grows on you. I missed out on the first run over a year ago and regretted it until the next drop and I got one. My favorite knife in my collection. Maybe if I could land an Arius it could top it but I don’t have an Arius lol. The skull sets it up. Great signature logo and the Chaves community is strong and well built.

Great video bro. My buddy JD and I got our first 229’s on the same day and both were shocked at how damn comfortable the pocket clip is despite its aesthetic. My plan was to immediately have a custom clip made but I quickly decided the skull clip is here to stay. After all, you can’t have a “death skull” without the skull 🤙🤙

I'm a sucker for all the features such as hollow grind, blade shape in general, as well as the sturdiness of it. Not to mention the murda'd out 'chawl version you have😂I'm gonna grab one of the 229's next go round. I regret not gettn one when they were available. Love me some Steven Rinella!! Saw him first on an episode of Rogan’s podcast. Anyway, I’ve got the plain bead blasted Ti and hand rubbed satin drop point version of the 229 Ultramar and it’s my favorite knife right now outside of my Microtech Troodon Hellhound Signature Series in Carbon Fiber. I think that knife will always be my fav just for cool factor alone. Anyway, love the content man keep making great videos!!

I totally understand where you’re coming from. I own 2.. one is the standard titanium version of yours (great knife but a brick) and one much smaller Liberation Street drop point flipper ( a much smaller knife ). Because I like the full size so much the flipper seems way too small. I really wish that there was a flipper that was somewhere in the middle. If you still own this.. Chaves is now shipping all new production knives with a second non offensive clip.. While it’s not deep carry.. it doesn’t shout “killer” when it peeks out of your pocket. I too would like to find a deep carry clip for both.. I’m 6’4” tall so my pants have relatively deep pockets… I truly hope Ramone makes a mid size flipper drop point. The blade on the flipper is more of a “Hinderer slicer” style blade.. I’d prefer the compound design of the full size… Thanks for the great review! PS: you probably can order one of those clips from Chaves… you’ll just need to get it coated…

I’ve got the exact same knife except for 1 difference. I bought mine from Blade HQ and their blacked out version has a carbon fiber front scale. I love the black stone wash blade, Pvd coated titanium rear scale and pocket clip. Still have yet to carry it or cut anything with it because it’s too pretty to scratch it up.

I love this knife so much. It is one of my favorites. I had to get up to pee twice because of that babbling brook in the background. 🤣🤣🤣

Really cool to see the mule deer encounter. As far as the knife goes, even if it was the best one ever made, I still wouldn’t ever want be seen with it as long as it had that abomination of a clip on. 😁

I suspect that a `Chavez ‘ is more or less a must for every collection. There’s things I like about this piece, but conversely, there are a few polarising attributes that stand out rather obviously, so, overall there is more good than bad and, would I get one, `heck yeah‘. Don't even own one, yet you described how I think I would feel if I did. It is cool AF, no doubt about it. You'd probably sell it with some regret and eventually buy another one down the road. Well, there's your answer. :)

Just got one last week..super cool knife but found that the titanium scales has a lot of hot spots. Scales have points and sharp edges...makes it uncomfortable to fidget with for an extended period of time.

Perhaps the issue with the gimping is more about your hand skin condition. From video close up shots, it appears your hands are very smooth, soft and callous free. Being a chef, weight lifter and home improvement enthusiast, you could C-clamp my thumb to the gimping without a complaint. If you have a desk job, starting weight lifting and endurance training, and other more aggressive activity.

Are people in LA more against things like that then in where I am the Midwest at least with me not so worriesome. LA has was stricker knife laws then Missouri where I am or even Kansas. Illinois knife laws are way different then ours too

Thank goodness I live in a state where it’s acceptable to carry pocket knives. More often than not most of us are carrying firearms.

This one has a heavier sensation to me because of the full titanium scales, they’re both super beefy though haha

I feel like the roosevelt is the version of this knife I'd like. That jimping, clip, and weight.. not my style.
