Elegant 16th century Chateau / castle entirely restored, with outbuildings and 30 ha of land. In the heart of the Bourbonnais area, home to the last and most famous royal house of France, stands this elegant castle, surrounded by an enclosed park of 8.6 ha. THE CASTLE
You enter the property via the front gates, gilded in fine gold.
Dated from the first half of the 16th century and in a classical L shape, the castle consists of 2 separate architectural entities:
• a main building, flanked by a pavilion and by a round tower
• a wing, flanked by a round tower
The property comprises 18 rooms, accommodating around 740 m2
The layout is as follows:
The main building, built over cellars, consists of:
• 1 large kitchen with 2 back kitchens
• 3 large communicating state rooms (dining room, living room and video room)
• 5 bedrooms
• 4 bathrooms
• 2 shower rooms
• 2 offices
• 1 lobby
• 1 laundry room
• 8 toilets
• Convertible attics with former servants rooms

The wing, former service quarters, consists of:

THE INTERIOR
The layout is very contemporary and functional, both in the main building and in the wing, with the living area situated on the ground floor and the more private night-time area on the upper levels.
The simple and harmonious geometry of the castle and of all its rooms creates beautiful and elegant volumes with a great fluidity of circulation.
The ornamentation in the main building, dating from the 18th century, is very delicate with classic geometric panels framed by very fine moldings, counter-balanced by antique-style ribbon-shaped flower friezes. The wing, on the other hand, is characterised by the omnipresence of natural materials such as exposed stone and wooden beams.
Using only a narrow palette of colors and neutral tones, the discreet decor and the purist renovation throughout both the main building and the wing have created a minimalist and elegant design where the curves of the middle ages meet the straight lines of the classical era.
THE LAND AND THE OUTBUILDINGS
Several outbuildings complement the property: a large barn with an adjacent store room and dovecote, the former stables and gate house and the underground wine cellars.
The castle is nestled in an enclosed wooded park of 8.6 ha, where there is a natural spring flowing through it and a small pond. The property overlooks around 21 ha of agricultural land and a small plot completes the property.
THE RESTORATION
The property has been entirely restored for over 1 Million Euros. Completed in 2014, it involved both structural and finishing work on the castle and on the outbuildings.
The works included the recovery of degraded exterior coatings, the insulation of the attic in the main building, extensive external and internal woodwork, revision of the entire wooden flooring and the restoration of the plasterwork and of the painting of the entire castle and wing (interior and exterior).
The roof is in excellent condition after defoaming and a precedent restoration by the previous owners.
ENERGY
The electricity has been entirely redone, adding new underground cables and new distribution boards.
The heating system was completely modified and the entire property is now heated by 2 wood-pellet boilers (Okofen Pelletronic) fuelled by 10 tons of pellets, stored in two 5-ton silos located in the cellar.
These renovations have brought the heating charges down to a minimum : around 2700€ p/a.
SECURITY
Special attention has been paid to making the property as safe as possible.
A centralized system (Central Galaxy Flex) with smartphone management guarantees maximum outdoor and indoor protection.
BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES
The bedrooms have been renovated in the spirit of a chambre d’hôtes activity.
With the possibility to farm around 21 ha of agricultural land, the property is situated in the wine producing area of the labelled « Val de Loire » wine and on the border with the AOC Saint Pourçain vineyards. The village produces red, white and rosé Val de Loire wine labelled IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée).
With dedicated wine cellars, the property has the potential to become a wine producing château.

Stunning home, I love it!
Absolutely Beautiful peaceful home. I am a designer too. Don't listen to all the critics, they want every chateau to look the same. This one is bright and airy. Though I would add or uncover pre-existing stone on the walls and decorate to my own rustic natural preference, I think this home is beautifully renovated and ready for personal touches. I personally like a blend of old traditional and modern luminosity. Some people think the only way to add color is with wall paint. Fabrics, trims, carpets, wall art, glass, sculptures..., there are many ways to add color and create a vivid color experience. I couldn't tell if the ground outside the chateau was dirt or gravel. Do you know? And how many acres is it?

WOW....absolutely stunning! the only thing I don't like the the parquet floors with the different tones or types of wood, I am not fan of parquet floors....reminds me of school and the nums. I am shocked at how cheap this property is £1,750,000, seriously, you'd get a shoe box apartment in London's Mayfair for that. I love this house

I think this place is basically a blank slate for the next owner to make her, or his, decorating mark upon the bland interior. The exterior needs some curb appeal - maybe some perennials that are low maintenance like lavender? It would be a fabulous vineyard, wedding destination or retreat B&B!
It would've been cool to see behind every door!

What did they do to that beautiful place? Where are the original colors? There are more colors than white. Where is the natural wood, under paint? What could have been a beautiful chateau has been turned into a hospital room. NEVER EVER paint wood that was not originally painted when first constructed.

easy: buy one and make as you like. Until there you have no opinion on what other can or cant make on their OWN homes.
You're going to get pretty wet making your way from the motor house to the main building should it be raining when you return home.. Even if you leave your car at the foot of the steps to the main door you'll get soaked.
EUR 1,950,000 = USD 2,299,050. Not very much considering what that would get you here.

i saw some nice aspects of the chateau on both the outside as well as the inside; however, it appears to be woefully under appointed, which makes the inside underwhelming. the inside needs to be warmed up. floors are too bare and cold in many places. much of the furnishings are appointed to rooms that are too big for the furniture or misplaced in the room itself. personally, i would not show the inside until it was appropriately finished. this is the second chateau i've seen today that was sparse in decoration.

I am an interior architect. I disagree with many things. THE INTERIOR IS A HORROR. How have they spent € 1,000,000 to renew everything? A 16th century castle is unlike anything inside. Only underground cellars hold a certain charm and reality. The design is too contemporary and functional, both in the main building and in the wing, with the living room located on the ground floor and the most private nightlife area on the upper levels. The wing, on the other hand, is characterized by the omnipresence of natural materials such as exposed stone and wooden beams. Everything is new, not restored on real materials. Using just a narrow palette of neutral colors and tones, the understated decor and purist renovation throughout the main building and wing have created a sleek, minimalist design where the curves of the Middle Ages meet the straight lines of the classical era . The decoration is too simple for the style of the castle and its time. I think they have done good restorations outside the building, but internally it has been a resounding failure.

@@idaslpdhr So buy a modern home. I tend to agree with Mundo, however, one adds one's own touches. The owners have clearly sorted out all the usual problems one encounters when buying a building built in the 16C. With viable land, I think it's a good price.
