Chateau CHENONCEAU -- Tour the Ultimate FAIRYTALE CASTLE -- Loire Valley, France
The Château de Chenonceau -"The Ladies' Chateau"- is a remarkable French château spanning the river Cher, near the small village of Chenonceaux, Indre-et-Loire, Centre-Val de Loire. It is one of the best-known châteaux of the Loire Valley, and the second most visited castle in France after Versailles.
An architectural mixture of late Gothic and early Renaissance, the Castle of Chenonceau and its gardens are a wonder to behold. Other than the Royal Palace of Versailles, it is the most visited château in France.
The castle was the royal residence of several queens, including Catherine de Medici and Louise de Lorraine, plus the royal mistress Diane de Poitiers. Its Renaissance interiors rival its extraordinary facade and gardens.

ABOUT US:
Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 23 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 2 decades, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

Vivian and Simon on the grandest tour. Their motto for this journey is clearly just Amour ! Chenonceau as backdrop serves their purpose well. The story of this castle is interesting to tell. They wander in the footsteps of sovereign queens of old. Whose lives meant often hardship, but sparkles now like gold. Though Vivian had no wooing, no courtier on his knees. Simon clearly conquers her heart with certain ease. 👩🏼❤️👨🏻

Hi Vivienne and Simon, "wow" no words, this place was so stunning, from the architecture to the garden, and the parks, just magnificent. What a beautiful day out for two. Thank you so much for bringing us with you, it was lovely to get away. Love from N.Y.
There’s now another destination on my bucket list of French places to visit! It was so beautifully presented by you both! I had a laugh when Simon couldn’t resist touching all the copper in the kitchen! Thanks for showing this stunning & romantic chateau. Happy Easter!

Vivian & Simon : you are a charming, beautiful couple ! And I so admire what you have done & are doing with your lives ! You enjoy the beauty & blessings of Life !! My Ideal Life !CONGRATULATIONS ! I am a Filipina, an aficionado of history, art & architecture & married to a very learned French-educated American. 8 years ago, we purchased a now-123-year-old farmer’s villa in Portugal. We worked for years to restore & improve it. We knew we were mere stewards of a cultural heritage.
I really enjoyed this tour with you and Simon as my guides. Oh and Simon, you would make a lovely concubine for Vivienne. Ahh yes, life on the edge.❤
I remember many, many years ago, the first time I saw photos of this stunning Chateau. What dreams are made of.....🏰
Wow!! That was absolutely spectacular! When you and Simon went into the kitchens I was mesmerized. All that beautiful copper and antique and ancient cookware. The tapestries were stunning. Imagine the work and time it took to make just one of them. And the gardens were simply breathtaking. Thank you both so much for treating us to a wonderful tour of that stunning Chateau. 😍😍
Happy Easter dear Vivienne and Simon...enjoy your weekend.❤

Thank you for sharing this tour. About 20 years ago my husband and I visited this chateau. Gorgeous! We loved driving around the Loire Valley countryside. This is a beautiful area of France.
The Chateau and the grounds just take your breath away. Such attention to detail. Thanks for taking us along!
Spent a lovely Sunday in Chenonceau in January. So beautiful. Loved the little chapel. All the Xmas decorations were still there and it was magnificent. Thanks for bringing back some happy memories.
Made my Sunday - better than chocolate eggs! At the age of 14 I first read about the fascinating Diane de Poitiers - beautiful vlog. Thank you for sharing from Australia.
LOVE LOVE LOVE! CHENONCEAU is one of my favorite LOIRE Chateaux. The scale, incredible architecture, the history and amazing gardens, which even just awakening to Spring are magnificent, there is beauty for all the senses. Even the pigeons on the windowsill were not immune to the magic of Chenonceau. Thank you Vivienne and Simon for being part of my morning coffee with this magnificent Chateau tour! A bientot!

Thank you so much for this fabulous vlog. The beautiful music, the grounds of the chateau and stunning interior took me back to a visit there over 20 years ago. Enjoyed your history relating as well! Best wishes from fans in Canada.
DIVINE, every inch. I remember being there and wondering if I could possibly remember how glorious the countryside, Chateau, moat, ceilings, parterre gardens, tapestries are. Thanks for a lovely vlog, you do them exquisitely. I am in awe of the French with their creativity in flower arranging. I took so many photos!
Hi Vivian & Simon, Loved the tour of Chateau CHENONCEAU. What Simon called he "Suggestion Box" is most likely for salt, an expensive item even for royalty back then. The gardens must be wonderful to see during summer in all their splendor. Thank you for sharing. Mark & Scott
Thanks for the wonderful tour of Château Chenonceau. I've wanted to visit since first seeing photos of it decades ago. I enjoyed every moment of it. I hope you got some invaluable design hints too. Keep spreading your Château Love!💋 Sending mid-century ❤ from Texas!

Simon keeps touching because he wants to have a feeling of what it was like being there also some how every time I think about you guys, delicious cheese comes to my mine.
This brings back memories of being with my dear Father in law, who took us there and explained all the History as he was very knowledgeable on French history. We sat in the gardens (in the summer) while he told us all about the mistress and the Queens.

Thanks for the tour! I always appreciate the way you film your tours, with much information and great attention to details. I also appreciate how the canopy beds are not overdone with artwork above the bed. I can appreciate the simplicity of the fabric alone. The gardens are exquisite even at this time of year.
One of my favorite Chateaus, we used to live down the street and this was our walk for the day. Its gorgeous from the other side of the river, where you can picnic and see it in full from the other side. I love the ladies of Chenonceau
Wonderful to see Chenonceau. On my one and, sadly, only visit to France, I visited this incredible chateau. I can still smell the lavender from the gardens there. ❤
Can’t wait to visit this castle 🏰 Thank you for sharing your video. Absolutely beautiful 🥰🏡🤗
I can’t believe my luck! Finding myself unable to go to sleep despite the late hour (or should I say very early morning over here) I reached for my ipad to peruse until my eyes eventually got heavy.😅 And what an exciting surprise I got seeing your notification upon opening Vivienne. You and Simon took us on a delightful tour of this stunning Chateau and grounds as only you can do. It was gorgeous both inside and out, thank you for sharing. I did love how the stables were repurposed as cafe seating too, because I feel so sad when these horse boxes (?) get taken out from some of the Chateaus that have old stables. I wish you all a very happy Easter full of blessings. 🙏🏻✝️🐣🐰🏰❤️

Thanks for sharing the tour with us. Just a spectacular chateau. The craftsmanship always blows me away. Those ceilings - just incredible.
Thank you for taking me to this spectacular Château. Appreciate you both and your wonderful commentary.
Ahahahaha the Curtis connection! Good perspective you two; often vlogs don't show the lead up to the castle showing the grounds which are expansive in size and really dwarf the chateau. Beautiful even without flowers. OMG a the interior you captured. Thank you for this tour complete with wooing pidgeons!!! Wow, wow, wow!!! You two are two of my faves, xo

Bonjour Vivienne and Simon! This is so exciting to be able to share this trip with you both! I just love anything Medici. To think I could ever have an opportunity to see such a very special and yes, fairytale Castle like this, It is totally unbelievable. I know in person it is impossible, for me and my husband, anyway, So, am thankful you have set this aside for us to journey along. What a nice way to spend a Sunday!
What a beautiful chateau. It seems to me that the charm of this place is it's simplicity. The rooms appear minimalistic with what you need but not lots of overwhelming textiles or colours that fight for your attention. Lots of repetitive elements both inside and in the garden. Absolutely gorgeous. Thankyou for showing us this chateau . ❤ from NZ.
Thank you what a beautiful Chateau to visit. I think I could be happy there. Those gardens are spectacular.
I was hoping you would take me into the chapel. I was lucky enough to visit many years ago. When I went to the chapel, the noise of buzzing like a swarm of bees was over whelming! No one else could hear them. I had to remove myself. I believe there is a portal or some physic energy in the chapel. The castle definitely has a very feminine feel to it. I bought and still have a tapestry cushion depicting the castle in the guest shop. Thank you 🙏
Vivian an Simon you are So wonderful a couple Who loves exquisite Things. And that is Special!
Hope you do not mind my saying this, but one thing I love most about both of you is that you are so very down to earth and "real" that means so much to me. You could be different am sure, and have a right to be that way, but you are not that type of people, I can see this. I truly love this so much! I noticed it with your sister and your daughter Dr Isabella. Thank you for being who you truly are, loving people! Could not help but see this in you, and it just does mean so much to come and enjoy the time with you on your vlogs. This just is something in people, a trait I like the most. It shines through! (That would be such fun if you could ever have such a chance to buy this Chateau too, and own it, what fun this would be, * but way to much work most likely as it is an undertaken, you would need help*) I realize under the circumstances it is not for sale and probably never would be, but that would be so very exciting in many ways though if it were a possibility! But guess ne Chateau at a time is probably enough for anyone? lol But the two of you know how to make things happen it does happen and can. We do need to always believe in miracles they say, correct, as that is how things do happen to many people by the faith they carry.

Two of the best tour guides ever !
Cyd in the USA. I had to laugh when you told your husband to "stop touching things" :-) I had been telling him that all through the chateau. I know his enthusiasm got the best of him. When we visited this chateau there were attendants everywhere who reminded visitors "please do not touch" in several languages. Thank you so much for this reminder of our day at Chateau Chenonceau.

Lovely visit. It sent me off on the Google rabbit hole of Catherine de Medici et al.
Just amazing. I couldn't help but wonder how different the inside would be back in the day with only candles to light the interior. Maybe they had an early bedtime for that reason.

My favorite chateau as well.....adore the sweet gate house....quite amazing! This chateau ALWAYS has the more gorgeous fresh floral arrangements! HUGE! Spent a lot of time photographing all these lovely arrangements. I even purchased a book from the gift shop specifically devoted to the floral arrangements! So much effort and thought has been put into making this a most enjoyable, immersive visit of this unique Loire chateau ,that it was so easy to imagine being there with you. The interior and surrounding grounds are indeed glorious, but I have always found parterre gardens unnecessarily contrived and controlling of the true beauty of plants and nature, which often gets it far more right than man.
