Chasing Gilmour's Tone. Shine On You Crazy Diamond - The Solos (David Gilmour)

Full Performance • Shine on You Crazy Dia...
Upon request here's a tone walkthrough with Bias FX2 for the classic David Gilmour Solos to Shine on you Crazy Diamond.
edit: apparently the bias fx tonecloud and the Spark tonecloud are not compatible. I mistakenly thought they were the same. sorry about that.
screwed up just a bit with the tone on the guitar setting. I forgot which guitar I actually used for these solos when I made the original cover. the guitar I used doesn't actually have a tone knob, so just leave your tone on full throughout, instead of rolled off a bit for the opening solo. I obviously compensated for this in my signal chain.
Hope you find this useful and accurate.
Cheers, Kelly

I grabbed the tones off the Bias FX2 cloud and they do sound great. Your playing on the snippets (and on previous Gilmour videos) is, as always, excellent and very inspiring. Thanks! Much appreciated!

Kelly, you are my favorite new discovery on YT. Your solo series through the 70s is fantastic. Perhaps you'll continue throught the 80s? I love your Gilmour covers and teachings, I'm a DG junkie. Perhaps you'll do a cover/analysis on Pink Floyd's new song "Hey, Hey Rise Up"? Some tasy, melodic playing on that --- Keep the awesome content coming (btw, I'm sober 8 years in May). -Dave

Thanks Kelly! I'll definitely be downloading the presets for Bias FX 2. And you used your sunburst Strat for the original cover. :-)

I like 1) your personality and the person you are, 2) the fact that you genuinely teach, you are not hiding anything like many others, 3) your life story is somewhat similar to mine regarding guitar career, though I’m much less accomplished. Thank you.

Sounds great, and very nice playing! I'm certainly no expert when it comes to Gilmour's tones, but this inspired me to create a couple of (vaguely) similar tones on my creaky old HD500X. Makes me wish I hadn't sold my Fender Strat. I guess I'll just have to start looking for a new one. 😄

Love David Gilmour and Jimmy Page. You play their material exceptionally well. Born in '58 so I grew up with all that stuff. Might I ask a possibly tiresome question about what strings and picks you use? I keep jumping around with both after playing for 30 years. 😟🙏😂

@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar thanks for responding. What prompted the question was I didn't see much of the pick between your fingers so I assumed it was of the Jazz 3 variety. You must choke up on the pick a lot. Again excellent playing. Really enjoyed the top 10 Jimmy Page solos vid which I agree with everything you said on it. Thanks again.
