We made a mid June trip to Craig Lake located in Upper Michigan. This lake has no boat launch and does not allow motors. It takes some work to get to this lake because you have to drive 5.7 miles of rough bolder ridden gravel road with all your gear in your vehicle at less than 5mph. Then you have to portage your canoe or kayak and gear a 3rd of a mile to get to the water edge. Then you have to paddle or peddle drive your vessel and gear across the water to your campsite while fighting the mosquitoes. No amenities here, BUT, if you willing to forego all that...there are some fish waiting for you. Large Mouth, Small Mouth, Pike, Musky, Walleye, Bluegill, and Crappie are in this lake. This lake is not recommended for the faint at heart.
I caught my limit of crappie in this video and a nice pike on light tackle. I was using a 7 foot ultra light Abu Garcia rod with 4lb fluorocarbon leader.
