Very very exciting sir. I am very grateful 👍
Awesome
Great video, loved the footage and your perspective. My neighbour, friend and veteran Cain’s Quest racer ran support for team 92 Adams and Boozan. Reilly Adams was one of his old race partners - they came in 4th place so proud of their accomplishment. My current snowmobile is actually my friend’s 2018 race sled 😄 What an amazing feat of endurance and mad respect for all the racers

Yes they certainly know the country. I ran into a couple of their support fellas along the trail as well. We lended one of them some chaincase oil as his was leaking a bit.
WOW!!!! What a beautiful adventure that would be. I lived literally right on an ofsc trail for 7 years so I've done some very big km Rides but I'll tell you I hope they have it in 3 year's because this is what I want for my 50th Bday. Lol What a thing of beauty nothing but snow a good buddy the smell of gas and a bunch of great people. Sound like great time. Thanks for sharing this with us Cheers
That is so cool. I have been asked to do that race about 10 years ago ago and it was not the right time for me but I still regret it today. That’s cool that you could be a supporter of a team. Great video. Pat

I’ve been asked multiple times as well, and I’d love to try it. I’m just lacking on the mechanical side of things. Basically, if something breaks on my machine, I’d be done lol. Other than that, I’d love to try it.
Hey Chuck! That would be an awesome skidoo run. Me, I'd be dead last, like by hours the way those guys go. I'd be checking out rabbit tracks and studying the Ptarmigan and just poking along. Enjoying what nature has to offer. . You spoke about accidents. Has my uncle told you about the one he had. The man could've been killed. Thanks for taking us along to ride shotgun Chuck.

Hahaha. Id be same way. Dead last. My eyes wouldn’t stop exploring lol. I’d like to attempt this race but only if I had someone like your uncle there as mechanical support. I’m not very mechanical at all, and having his knowledge along with me would make it tempting. He briefly mentioned his accident, but now that you brought it up, I’ll beg him for deeper details.
Cool. Great weather! Doesn’t seem like much snow Chuck.

Not near as much as other years. The partridge you see there are everywhere. (We likely saw 75-100 without even looking for them). Their food source (willow) are usually snowed over mostly by this time of year, forcing them south, but this year the trees are fully exposed.
Great snowmobiling race. Love to try it some day !!
great video. thank you
Lotta good memories up there! some bad too😅 there in 08-09 and 11

Thanks for taking us along, on your adventure with you & your son. Cheers till the next video.
You make me green with envy Chuck. Would love to be there with you. My brother and some friends did a run to James Bay from Rouyn Noranda back in 1970 I believe it was. Didn't ride in luxury like the machines today. We had sno jets back in the day. Pretty hardy machines but lacked power. Thanks for the video

You’re absolutely right don. I talk about this all the time now. Our machines are so stable and comfortable these days. And incredibly reliable. When I was young, I would have done this same route on an elan 12 hp, or, if I was lucky enough, on a bravo long track lol
A couple days late getting to this Chuck due to traveling for work. Home now and sipping on a coffee as I think this is one of the most enjoyable "Chuck Porter" vids I have seen. As an avid snowmobiler myself and been on some intense trips over the years I can appreciate everything about this race. I was awesome to see the inside behind the scenes Chuck. Nothing like showing up at the camp after a long ride and hearing the cracking of the fire and smell of the food........Thank you.......Cheers.

Fun video. A couple years ago I put out a video of the Iron Dog start and received a lot of positive comments about Cain’s Quest. That was the first I heard of this race and since then I’ve been interested to see content about it. Thank you for sharing.

Looks like an incredibly grueling race against the the elements but the the country and scenery is so beautiful thank you Mr porter
Great video Chuck. The last time I did support I had to drive from shefferville to Esker at night with only a small flash light for a headlight. It was an interesting experience to say the least.

What an adventure, to be able to be part of the race without racing. Good for you and the crew.
What an adventure! An experience to remember. Thanks for allowing us to tag along & get the inside scoop on what a valuable service you guys offer. Wish I could tag along. I would absolutely love this. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for taking us behind the scenes and along for the ride Chuck always nice to see things like this from behind the scenes or from a different angle or perspective.
What a great adventure and experience it was so great you helped out your son

Great video as always chuck! It's nice to see some behind the scenes footage of the race 🙂 It would be nice if they filmed the race or had people filming at the check points. There's really not enough media coverage for cains quest! The iron dog snowmobile race in Alaska is really long too, it's around 2500 miles/ a little over 4000 kms.
Hey Chuck got the opportunity to be at Churchill a few years ago when my son was there for a AAA tournament and watch the teams check in at hotel north it was an amazing time for me being a outdoors man myself from the island I will never forget the feeling I had watching those boys get to the checkpoint it was awesome. Would love to been a part of that what a time

Awesome Chuck! Glad that you are showing people some of the behind the scenes effort and extra people that go into this race! There are way to many people that don’t even know about it. Hopefully see all you guys around again for the next one!
Very interesting I had only learned about this Cain race a few years ago, what an endurance run on man and machine. Thanks for sharing.
Hahaha, the pecker statue. This was very interesting, Chuck. Sorry about the problems the team had. But still exciting and another well done video. Kenny

Nick stole the show up there. Man of the hour. He certainly knows the land and can take care of things. Good on you for showing him that.
Great video! Too bad team 82 ran into issues. I was rooting for them since they had to retire last year due to injury. Hope to get to run support some year to see what it’s all about and decide if I’d realistically have what it takes to attempt the race.

I think for me it was under an eye opener. It’s becomes very real when you see them operating in such remote areas. But tremendously exciting at same time.
The Canadian rangers are pretty cool. I got to work with them in NWT back in 2007. I still have a signed hoodie from them. :)

Those races can be pretty intense. I'm not sure if I'd want to be "in" the race byt as part of the support crew, I think that would be pretty cool. At least you guys got a good ride out of it.

Amazing Chuck! Second to none coverage! I was down Lab few years ago on a caribou hunt and drove 600 kms to camp that was enough for me at one time! Too bad Andrews' team had to quit but that's how it goes. I rem being in Schefferville years ago for work IOC, houses there haven't changed much! Would you do that trip again?
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
4 ай бұрын
Yes I’d do the trip again. In fact, when we got back to town here, one of the guys said “if we had to turn around and go again right now, I would”. We all felt the same way. Incredible experience. I travelled to schefferville for years on the train when the caribou would strike up there in late August/early September. I would go up Thursday of one week on the train, come down Friday of the following week. And we would patrol from Menihek dam right up to greenbush (northernmost Labrador border). Quite the experience.

Yes sir sounds great. Too bad the caribou took such a beating. Think was early April early 90's when we went on last trip and everyone in their shirt sleeves. Sunburn was a problem for sure. Take care and thanks for great vids @@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors

Put zero miles on my sled this year, no snow, great to see your journey. How does your Skandic handle those long rides compared to your sons Expedition?
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
4 ай бұрын
I don’t notice a whole lot of difference to be honest. I’m a skandic guy as I travel so much off trail. I’m constantly bumping off of stumps and hidden rocks. I know I’d have those a-arms beat up in short order. I went 600kms before returning home on that trip and didn’t feel the least bit sore or stiff. I’m fact, I got up the following day and went all day again on an ice fishing trip. I love the brp’s I must say.
Me sad, no Willow to see. 😢

How did the sliegh with only the gas cans keep from damaging the Jerry cans on hard objects like ice and branches...I am trying to prevent this issue before it becomes an issue as I am building a similar sleigh
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
4 ай бұрын
Those sleighs were hand built by someone here. Designed specifically for that purpose and exactly fits those cans. Andrew tells me that if you don’t use that exact can, it’s a disaster. However, the ones he towed there didn’t budge over 550 kms. And no damage whatsoever
@rickkenyon8486

As I suspected, designed around the Jerry cans, I am anticipating the plastic bottom is wide enough to prevent contact on my sleigh Thx for getting back to me

Yes it was. One of the guys even had a shotgun but didn’t fire a single shot. We had too much enjoyment just exploring the country. Seeing the birds were just a bonus. 👍
Not the longest in the world, the Iron Dog here in Alaska is a bit over 4000 Kilometers. Toughest, who knows, cause honestly the terrain you probably couldn't tell from Labrador if you were air dropped blind into either one... Far north, snow, cold, DANGEROUS, etc. Not sure if they all the Iron dog an endurance race though... Maybe yours is longest in its class? Whatever, I don't really mean to be correcting, just comparing... :-) I just remembered that Iron Dog always claimed longest and toughest, had to look up the mileage. We do checkpoints, but I don't thing chase or support teams... Think if they did I would have run it as support by now. At least they didn't do it 20 years ago when i was still into this kinda stuff. I havn't paid attention to it for years. I know fuel is air dropped to the checkpoints. Always wanted to race it growing up, but I got too far away from doing FAST stuff with sleds to ever even dream it could happen now.. Too dang old lol. Glad to see you guys getting out there to help out and experience some of it, looks like a heck of deal, and an awful lot of fun!! But then, helping out anywhere is always the most fun anyway, eh? ;-) As always, I Tremendously Appreciate you taking us along for the ride Chuck, Thanks!!

I’ve heard of this race as well. Pretty sure some of the same guys who run this race have tried the iron dog as well. I will look it up. Not sure of the categories 🤔. Tremendous feat on any account. Virtually A full week of continuous driving. Dont know how they do it.
