Chase Bliss Audio Mood Micro-Looper and Delay Demo

Музыка

Guitar and Generative App demo of the ambient dream weaver, the Chase Bliss Audio Mood
M O O D is a two channel granular micro-looper / delay. Designed to be playful and immediate, it is a study of interaction. From stretchy drones, flurries of pitch-shifted delays and granular sound studies, it's all in there, and that's only a fraction of what this whimsical soundscape device can do. Is this the most ambient pedal ever made? I definitely think it's up there with the best!

    This is one of the finest and most inspiring ambient/soundscape devices ever made. So many unbelievable reshaping and constantly evolving textures. Hope you enjoyed the demo, and hope you're still enjoying or tolerating the quarantine/covid-19 video format. I just can't go to my regular video studio right now, so I'm shooting these things at home on my tiny desk. I think this one turned out really well though. If you dig it, then please consider leaving a like, comment or sharing the demo with your friends. Your support always means the world to me. Thank you - Stefan

    I've seen so many pedal reviewers who demo every pedal with their favorite blues licks or quasi-shredding. This works fine for OD/Distortion but when it comes to spacey/ambient pedals they apply those same techniques which do not translate well. One reviewer I saw took the Hologram Infinite Jets right out of the box, plugged it in, fiddled with a few knobs and then complained that he couldn't get any good sounds! Dude, that is a very complicated, delicate and subtle pedal. It comes with a thick manual and takes time, practice and experimentation. Reviews like that do a disservice to their viewers! Stefan on the other hand, gets it. He understands how these pedals work. takes the time show off their best qualities and demonstrates how we, the atmospheric/ambient crowd can get the most out of them. For that Mr. Fast, I am grateful.

    Great comment. I love the infinite jets but you are right it takes time and effort to learn. Pedals like the IJ and Mood are very much like instruments on their own. I did almost fall victim to this mentality when playing with the Meris Hedra but it is now one of my favourites. The Mood, Hedra, and Infinite Jets are an incredible combo. The guy who reviewed the IJ probably didn't even calibrate it.

    Watching all the videos I can on Mood Mk II before I spend the big bucks, I remembered watching your video on Mood Mk I. It's easily one of the most musical and convincing demos I've seen on either pedal, sounding neither like a random series of bleeps and ambient whooshes nor like a traditional rock band with a few Mood-derived sound effects over the top. As usual, you let the pedal take you places. I love your playing and I love your concise pragmatic way of explaining things. You rock, Stefan.

  • @thepedalzone

    @thepedalzone

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thanks, man! That's extremely kind of you. Really happy you liked the tones and the tunes here. It was a fun demo to make. I can see that I took the understanding of DIP Switches and Bounce a bit for granted, since I've used them so much. It's not complicated at all though. 1) So bounce and ramp are two pieces of the same pie. Bounce is an action you activate via the DIP switches, which basically enables you to automate any control you want on the pedal. It "bounces" the selected control pot(s) back and forth from your selected point to either max or minium position on the pot, as if an invisible hand was turning the knob for you. So it's somewhat like automating parameters in a DAW. So what you're seeing me do in the demo in the DIP switch section is first engage the Bounce DIP switch, and then I engage the DIP switch for the specific pot I want to be controlled. 2) The Ramp control simply determines how fast the selected control(s) are being "bounced" back and forth. Hope that helps :)

    This is by far the most amazing sound created with Mood on youtube. Makes me consider buying this pedal. Multiple other demos of Mood made me having the ( wrong) impression, that whatever you throw at it ( Synth, bass, guitar, drum machine), eventually it will destroy the it into similar sounding slices, bells & whistles...really ;). But not this one. Thanks for the efforts! Great and inspiring like always ! Keep it coming and stay safe!!!

    Exactly! I allude to that in my post above. It's a shame but most of the demo guys don't take the time to learn the pedals they review. That works fine when only Volume, Tone and Gain are involved but it does a great disservice to the pedal makers and their viewers when the pedal is more complex. Unless of course they're trying to show the pedal sounds if you put zero effort into learning it :)

    Happy to hear you enjoyed the demo. This pedal definitely packs a creative punch. So much to explore in it. So I totally get if you want to have it on a table top, so you can quickly manipulate it on the fly with your hands. This pedal is an instrument in its own right, and really comes alive if you dare to play it as one

    @@thepedalzone Yeah, this is the first demo that actually made me want that pedal. I think it's because of the attention you put into the effects you paired with it. Many demos just use an uninspiring clean tone and have the pedal make daft squeaks and laser-gun sounds over the top. Conversely I found your tones highly tasteful

    Just wanted to say this demo made this pedal make complete sense to me as every other demo is random bleeps and bloops - your riffs are what I would probably play as well if I had the pedal. Never wanted the pedal for real until I saw this. Went to the comments - everyone said the same exact thing. Keep it up dude!!!!!

    @@thepedalzone I'm so late to the game! I really love your work man, sincerely. You & Knobs & Andy re-ignited my creativity. I've always loved guitar and sounds and melody and finally developed a vision. First 3 pedals I chose was Mood, Avalanche Run & The Visitor (due to your demo!) SY-1 to be added due to your tactful display as well. I'm 10 years behind but warming up to the passion behind it all. It's a rich, aesthetic and expensive meditation yet priceless at the same time. Hands-On tech always better than screens. A plugin can't feel as good as a pedal.

    Yep, Pedal zone, knobs, and pedal partners for me. Havent owned a pedal before because im very confident with my skills in Ableton and the plugins ive purchased there, but ive been finding so much more bliss and joy from just playing the guitar not worrying about making music but enjoying and healing.... and turns out the best music will come from that anyways!
