    I´m from Germany and I´ve bought your Ruler after I saw your Video on youtube. The Tote bag is beautiful. That´s my next project. In the moment I sew two flat pillows for my Garden Chairs. It works very easily with this ruler. Thank you for showing.

    This is a great tutorial, best I've seen using this tool. I've decided to use some bright plaids with light blue denim for my quilt. (Here's a tip- to avoid a sticky mess, put your fabric squares down inside a cardboard box to spray).

    Thank you for answering some questions that I had (like figuring out how many circles/squares to cut), that I wondered how ''I'' could without playing by ear. I have many old blue jeans and had planned this type as my second quilt.

    Just a thought. I am using just a little touch of washable glue stick on the denim to attach my color centers before I sew. It is what I have on hand and works fine with just a minimal amount. It also will wash out when you launder the fabric.

    Thank you for a lovely video, your straight forward approach and clear directions make the quilt seem so easy and simple to make. What I love MOST is NOT having to do binders and backing. I am in the midst of cutting circles out of recycled jeans. I am thinking of going with charm squares in color groupings. need to know how many to purchase. I have a lot of washable glue to use up. I may try that to hold the squares to the denim. Doing stacks of fabric to denim will give the sparingly spread glue to the edges of the square time to dry I would imagine. Wondering just how many blocks for a queen size quilt. Thank you in advance for your answer.

    The front, bottom and back are made up of seven rows of three (3 rows of 3 each for front and back and 1 row of 3 for the bottom). The sides, 1 row of 3 for each side are then added on. There are instructions for the tote in the "Inspiration" section of our website. Here is a link: www.junetailor.com/inspiration-fashion Hope this helps.

    Love the video! How many blocks are needed for a queen size quilt? if my figuring is correct, a queen bed is 60x80" and queen quilt is 90x108" 90+108/ 5 =111.6 rounded up to 112 squares. Is that correct? now as to how many rows. 90 divided by 5= 18 squares by 108 divided by 5 = 21 squares. Have I got that right? Am new to this, have made baby strip quilt, and minky and denim baby quilt. easy to lay out. this not so much and my confidence is not there for it yet. Thank you.

    Hi Luanna, Well done calculating your sizes and dimensions. Each row will be 18 squares for a 90" wide quilt. To achieve the 108" length, you will need 21 rows. In total, you will need 378 squares (18 x 21). Per your previous message, wash out glue will work just fine.

    @@JuneTailorInc thanks for your kind reply. I am ending up using washable glue sticks really cheap on Amazon in basics. Much neater than glue and holds better than spray for me in my humble opinion. Making a full sized quilt instead. 18 across and 21 down 4 packs of 5 in charm squares 165 squares. ( had 120 denim circles cut out already) and now have 3 rows done but not attached to each other quite yet. Its gonna be great. I think I might try this again with anti-pill flannel squares for a warmer quilt. maybe make a throw so less to do next time. LOL.

    I noticed in your tutorial, you did not clip the edges all around each "square" after sewing down the edges, just threw it in the washer, am I understanding that correctly? I see on other tutorials, they do a bunch of clipping of the seams. I assume with your method, the edge just does not fray as much as it would with doing all the clipping?

  • @JuneTailorInc

    @JuneTailorInc

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi Barb, It depends on how frayed you want your edges, what kind of fabric you are using and how quickly you want it to fray. Denim, especially worn, like old jeans, will fray relatively fast with usage and a couple washings. If you prefer well frayed edges very quickly, by all means feel free to clip the raw edges.

  • @johnawrzosek6127
    @johnawrzosek61275 жыл бұрын

    I don't like the frayed edges. Can I use the traditional white fabric instead. How much white fabric should I buy for a queen size quilt. Than you

  • @JuneTailorInc

    @JuneTailorInc

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi Johna, Absolutely, you cant use pretty much any kind of fabric that you like. A great way to prevent fraying is to use decorative stitching or satin stitching on the rounded edges. As for the queen size quilt, the finished block size is 5". So 90" wide divided by 5" is 18 blocks wide. Round 108" length to 105" divided by 5", you will need 21 block rows. In total, you will need 18 x 21 = 378 blocks. You can make any size adjustments by multiplying or dividing by 5" as desired.

    How many rows i need to do a king size

  • @JuneTailorInc

    @JuneTailorInc

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hi Stephanie, A typical king size quilt is 108" x 95". The finished blocks using the Charming Circles ruler are 5". So if you divide that out, you would need 22 rows of 19 blocks (418 total blocks) to make a quilt 110" x 95". Hope this helps.

    Why do you sew right sides together? It doesn’t get turned does it?

  • @JuneTailorInc

    @JuneTailorInc

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi Rebecca, The circles are sewn, right sides together, along the edge of the fabric squares. This leaves the rounded edge of the circle free to fold over and then sew over the fabric square. Hope this answers your question.

  • @JuneTailorInc

    @JuneTailorInc

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hi Stephanie, If you would like to make it "puff" in the middle, you can cut squares of batting and layer between the denim circle and the quilting cotton square. Depending on how comfortable you are with sewing through thick layers, you can cut the batting 5", the same as the square, or 4-1/2" to give you a little less bulk when sewing the circles together.
