If there’s one DJ about to take the world by storm, it’s Charlotte de Witte. Never shying away from a
challenge, always malling her career and music the way she envisions it. And scorching through a myriad
of uncompromising, agressive techno sets across Europe every single weekend.
No surprise then, that the rest of the world is calling for Charlotte. After already having toured Asia, the U.S.
and Canada, she’ll be heading to Australia, New Zealand, Central and South America next. Few dj’s belong
to the group that can work on that level - from the biggest stages to the sweatiest basement raves.
Still her heart remains tied to the both the underground Techno scene and Belgium where she can be
found championing new talent both on her Saturday night radio show, ‘Playground Charlotte de Witte’ on
Studio Brussels, Belgium’s leading radio station, and at KNTXT de Witte’s residency at Brussels Techno
institution Fuse.
Having moved into production, de Witte has wasted no time in establishing herself as a serious talent in the
studio as well as behind the decks. But whilst a Charlotte de Witte DJ set is guaranteed to get you moving,
Charlotte’s own music has provided her with a chance to reveal another side.
Her agressive, stripped-down approach to her own tracks is a testament to that beforementioned dark side,
while the tracks also often feature her own vocals. “Making music really gives me a chance to tap into the
more emotional side of electronic music that I love. Music that has that melancholic side to it, I just find it so
much more interesting, whether DJ’ing, producing or just listening myself at home.”
Her release on Tiga’s Turbo Recordings “Weltschmerz EP” gained massive national and internatonal
support. For now, with her upcoming releases, her ongoing radio show, Fuse residency and a packed tour
diary de Witte shows no sign of slowing down. Despite her love of all things dark, the future for Charlotte de
Witte looks very bright indeed.

Either she plays hard or not she's a great DJ, she deserves all the glory she's in. I love her and I will never get tired of seeing her live. Her 7 hours set at Brooklyn Mirage was crazy!

I grew up on techno and trance in the late 90’s early 2000’s. The music and the DJ’s of that era is still the best ever released. I’ve only just discovered Charlotte recently, but she is the best exponent since that era. Nobody since then has been worth listening to. Ibiza aint nothing on what it used to be and neither is trance or techno. Have you heard the kind of music Paul Van Dyk plays these days? Embarrassing, except for when he plays the classics... Charlotte plays old school music and Nina Kraviz too... Legends they will be 👊🏻

I myself used to played at both clubs, raves and festivals for more than a decade (psy-trance, goa, dnb, techno, ambient etc) with both vinyl and cd.. So outta curiosity I sometimes been listenin for quite a few mixes here on youtube.. I make my judgement not bent on gender, or beauty (hey i am a man as well and i find some of the female djs playing to be real hotties, but the music and mixing skill is always number one when listening) but on mixingtalent and storytelling.. Almost every time when I then read the comments I see the same thing when it comes to female djs.. "She is not mixing", "she is a fake", "she sux", etc.. And most of the time from fellow male djs.. I wouldn't care much if the mixing is superbad although there are more constructive ways to say it, whether be male or female, constructive comments are to help the dj develop his/her skills and encourage him or her to continue to strive to become even better.. Comments from fellow djs that are meant to put someones efforts down makes me ashamed of being human, MALE fellow djs putting down a fellow dj just because she a woman makes me ashamed of our gender.. And more male djs that are against this kind of shit behaviour need to raise their voices against it.. Make your words count.. Every djs challenge is in the strive to always become better and the essence of doing something you love is to have fun while doing it.. Downletting comments work totally against that.. It is called just being a plain evil bastard..

I don't personally DJ, but I've spent a ton of time with and around DJs, and I truly enjoy pretty much all types of music, and write music myself and have been for years. When it comes to what you're talking about, I think you're spot on. I think, if you close your eyes and enjoy what you're listening to, then it should be as simple as that. Often times, simplistic yet extremely precise and intentional mixes beat out overly technical and busy ones. Anyone who is being hyper critical in general probably is forgetting why they're listening to the music in the first place...which is simply to listen and enjoy the music you're listening to. I imagine most overly critical comments come from jealousy more than anything, and should be disregarded. Charlotte simply wouldn't be where she is if people didn't enjoy listening to her tracks and her mixes in one way or another, and I imagine (or hope) that she disregards the worthless criticism because that's often what it is. I don't even think addressing the gender thing is even worthwhile a lot of times because it doesn't have anything to do with the music, and even playing into that conversation only prolongs the inevitable conclusion that the music speaks for itself. Fuck jealous assholes, and just listen to the music or don't if it's not your taste. Cheers : )

She isn't the best or the worst but to place honesty on the table, she has been marketed for her appearance over skill. This isn't solely because of her gender, she's an attractive Belgian chick, yet this has been the case for guys as well, mediocre to decent talent with a dope headshot. In the end, DJs in the 2000s, especially in EDM are marketed this way.

you can get speakers and a mixer and add effects or your own tracks however you please, but she's constantly adding and removing layers, every 2 bars pretty much

this isn't my favorite set by her because I didn't feel like it really go anywhere until later on towards the end of her set. That being said, I do like her more recent sets. Definitely one to watch, and I love her productions, but as for DJane's, she's in the middle of my watch list.

Es muy buena literalmente. En España hay DJ tan buena como ella o mejores y con una cultura insuperable literalmente. Fran Lenaers en los años 80 iba a Bélgica, Holanda,Inglaterra a por musica y la pinchaba en la sala Spook Factory!! Musica que en esos países no escuchaban,luego todos los grupos musicales de antaño les pedían a las sala de Valencia España venir a tocar aquí. Me encanta la musica electrónica pero los grupos de antes son una pasada como los vinilos!!!saludos
