Charlie Sheen | How the star cleaned up his act | Sunday Night

He was the world’s highest paid actor. Hollywood royalty with a raft of impressive movie credits to his name. But then Charlie Sheen quite literally lost the plot. It was one of the most bizarre and public meltdowns ever - a total train wreck - and we couldn’t stop watching. But now the new and improved Charlie is back - older, wiser and keen to explain what drove him off the rails. Reporter Matt Doran went fishing for answers.
This story originally aired on the 21st October 2018.

Robert Downey Jr was arguably in an even worse place than Charlie, and he came back and became the biggest star in Hollywood. Here's hoping Charlie makes a comeback with a bang too.

The only difference between Charlie sheen and RDJ is the HIV diagnosis. Other than that they was pretty much equal. RDJ had a serious crack issue

I doubt that, Charlie Sheens crash was all very public and all over the news in the peak of his fame on the one the most watched shows. Also having it happen before you get really famous and coming back is probably a lot better.

RDJ never told a producer worth 600 million to go "f*ck yourself" so Blacklisting is more likely than a comeback. Also RDJ was not known to be banging Pornstars and violence towards his wives.

I hope and wish Charlie would stay clean, he went public with his HIV diagnosis, he said he felt hopeless and for one time in his life he couldn't fix it. He probably contracted it from a prostitute. But even after he has quit the drugs the after affects they don't realize what it does to there body , but I'm just glad that he has changed, and each day will always be a new day for him, one day at a time. On two and a half men he was making 2 million dollars an episode, but because of all the partying and not showing up to work for 3 days at a time and also being late and even hungover on the job he was fired. During an interview and that poor woman looked scared to death lol, she asked him was he under the influence then and asked him to take a urine test in which he passed. It could have been his urine and it could have been someone elses who cares. I love Charlie as an actor but he has to live with his life and so forth. He has two girlfriends and now 3 grandchildren and he stated that his child suppport payments were 110,000 thousand dollars my goodness a high price to pay. He said he was out of a job and had a family to support Is why he was suing TMZ and hoping they would settle out of court. I don't see him "winning" when they bring up not showing up to your employment for days at a time and I can't count how many drug overdoses wow. No matter what I wish the best for Charlie and hope he stays on the straight and narrow for his sake, his kids and grandkids Sake. What I believe is wrong and I quote this came from one of his girlfriend he has two. She said that alot of people may think this is strange but it works for us. They each both have a relationships with Charlie, and then the girls have a relationship themselves with each other and it doenst get any weirder than that. One is a model and the other a former playboy bunny and I could'nt imagine how many women that man has been with. All you people is right HIV and Aids are different, but what you don't understand Is that eventually HIV does turn into Aids and I don't care what you believe. Ask any healthcare professional instead of using google. There is medicine to prolong it but no cure, no matter how much money in the world you have. Good luck Charlie and stay on the right winning side .

Charlie Sheen is responsible for his own sobriety and is learning how to live clean. He said it perfectly after getting laughed at for his non-manly drink choice, "It's better for everyone if I don't." To me, that sounds like a man who finally has his eyes open to reality. It's up to him to decide to have (or not have) a drink or drug, not for society to hide those things. I struggled to quit smoking, I'd still like a cigarette, but I know if I have one, I will be hooked once again. My husband smokes around me and leaves open packs. I'm a better version of me without cigarettes and I'm going to do my damndest to keep it that way. Good for Charlie, I'm proud of him, he's come such a long way, I thought he would be lost forever.

I think Charlie Sheen is just a very intelligent person, and when he did a lot of drugs, his brain went into hyperdrive. I'm very happy for him, to have found a way into more balance, and if abstinence works for him, all good on him, but he should not do this to please others, only himself, because that matters.

That logic is so incredibly flawed i could write a thesis on how wrong you are. The SHOW was success full, therefore he made a lot of money. Because a show is great that doesnt mean the actor is world class material. Big Bang Theory raaaakes in money, but Jim Parsons who play Sheldon is a TERRIBLE actor. He can play ONE character great, the sheldon-esque type. As could Charlie only really play characters that are much like himself. That is not great acting

@@patandersen4271 Well said, he's one of the greatest actors, people dont realize that his most popular tv show was popular that way mainly because most people went to see him. People dont realize what actor really means, it doesnt mean to have necessarily a great range, it means to be convicning and entertaining at the same time, Hot Shots films, Beyond The Shadow or Platoon are a good example, he carried those films, he was and is a master at his craft, true master actually, he's naturally born talented, that has a lot to do with what he got from his father in genes too. The same is true about John Wayne, Charles Bronson, Stallone, etc, they had a limited range, and within that range no one could beat them, this kind of actors know where they belong, and that's makes them great actors.

I was curious as to where Charlie Sheen is at now after watching one of those "celebrity awkward interview" videos. Was really happy to see this. He seems genuinely on the road to recovery. For those of you who want him back on 'two and a half men', probably will never happen, but if he did a public apology video to the producer as well as other good gestures, who knows? It would definitely push the ratings through the roof because people would tune in to see his return. Not sure if it would be a good thing for him at this point, though.

People are very judgemental and ignorant over there, and Charlie Sheen is a very easy taget. All that hysteria surrounding his persona was just too much. And after the HIV thing, he has basically been shunned by Hollywood. I would love for him to leave that behind, and kickstart his career in Europe or someshere else.
