I remember an interview of Israeli and Palestinians years ago. The Israelis spoke to the need to compromise and peace. The Palestinians talked of having as many children as they can, so that those children can 'become martyrs and kill as many jews as they can'. THAT is why I totally support Israel. They are against an absolute terrorist organisation that does not want to engage in any sort of peace because to do so would mean they have to let go of power.

Kirk doesn't have facts in this instance. Palestine was a territory mapped by the Roman Empire and named Philistina (Palistine). Israel was never on any map prior to 1948, when Palestinian land was stolen to create israel

I mainly see myself as a left-leaning centrist. I support liberal ideas of self expression, freedom, equality and justice. Conservatives to me were always against the ideas of freedom I envisioned, but these last 3 weeks have made me re-examine and re-evaluate some things, and lately I've come to the realization that there is a pretty big difference between Middle Eastern left and Westerner left. The people whom I thought I could support in our shared ideas of peace, freedom, equality and justice are apparently the same people that are now openly calling for my death, justifying the actions of terrorists, and scoff whenever I have rockets flying over my house. And I'm not a Jew. Nor am I a Zionist. I'm just a simple Israeli. I grew up with annual bombardment from the Gaza Strip by Hamas since I was a child. And people, so far removed from the conflict, who haven't studied a lick of history, think themselves experts on a conflict I grew up with.

Conservatives also believe in self expression, as long as those expressing it don't try to push it on everyone else. You want to identify as the opposite sex? Fine, but don't insist I call you by your preferred pronoun if I know your true gender. I'm not part of your delusion. As far as freedom goes, conservatives believe in that far more than liberals. We are the ones trying to protect freedom of speech, the right to keep and bear arms etc. Seems the libs want to take all our rights and freedoms away and pretty much ignoring the constitution. Conservatives also want equality. Everyone should have equal opportunity, which should not be confused with equal outcome. Equal outcome is socialism. Finally, nobody believes in justice more than the conservative, as long as it is equal justice for all, not throwing the book at those on one side of the political aisle while ignoring crimes committed by those of the other, and having a justice system that is not weaponized by a certain political side to go after their political rivals.

@@jack-1955 I just don't understand the conservative refusal to refer to someone by their preferred pronouns. I mean, it doesn't hurt nor affect you in any way, it makes the other person happy, so why not just do it? If anything, it's just a simple, basic level of human respect. Kinda like if your name's Bob and you change it to John because you don't like the name Bob, but someone will deliberately keep calling you Bob because, and this is an argument conservatives often use: "Why should I accept you for who you want to be if you couldn't accept yourself for who you were". It's an unnecessary act of protest in the face of something that, in the grand scheme of things, is trivial, but significant on a personal level, so why not entertain it? Everyone stands to benefit from it, and to go in protest of it is to breed unnecessary conflict.

Also, the attempts to set at naught the most fundamental realities of mammalian reproductive biology doesn't sit well, I'm not inclined to reject the evidence of my eyes and ears in order to appease anyone, nor yet will I concede that 2+2 is whatever The Party requires.
