The book version: The firefighter silver suits were pointless. She was tested to set fires with 30,000 degrees kelvin - effortlessly blowing apart cinderblock walls through explosive outgassing. Tungsten _boils_ at 6203 K, so this Charlie is anaemic in comparison. Also in the original movie's end scene she walks out of the facility while vaporizing bullets fired from full-auto weapons & at the very end sends off a fireball to blow up stuff - explosive effect of about a 100m afair. Here? Haybales are on fire......

The book made it so beautifully clear, just how dangerous and destructive Charlie's Powers really were. The sheer power of fire. I know a lot of people like this version, but it was a big disappointment for me as a big fan of the book and the 1984 adaptation.

If you read the book, this version sucks. The original movie did better than this POS film.
Holy moly, when did she go berserk? And also why were fire proof suits able to stop her? In the book she was able to burn cinderblock which needs over 700 degrees. Even a fire resistant suit can't endure that let alone the person inside it.

This film nerfed her. Original Charlie turns them into ash.
The guy took down 5 men with three shots. Impressive. Anyway, judging by the smoke that came from the other guys mouth, it's good that she let him walk away with only internal 3rd degree burns.

Scott Teems wrote this adaptation of Firestarter (2022), Halloween Kills, The Quarry and is currently working on the upcoming re-quel of The Exorcist and the direct sequel to Insidious: Chapter 2. I enjoyed Halloween Kills and Firestarter (2022), but I won’t sugar coat it… these movies are VERY divisive. I hope he doesn’t mess up on The Exorcist cause that franchise laid dormant for years due to subpar follow ups (with the exception towards 3) and prequels, and I don’t want to see it get ruined by a weak script and same goes for Insidious: Fear the Dark.
Still waiting for the park where she goes berserk…???

Why are modern remakes always so awful and amateurish? The original _Firestarter_ (1984) had its flaws, but it was orders of magnitude better than this remake in almost every way. Better acting, better directing, better dialogue. And I cringe to say it, but I think even the hokey _Firestarter: Rekindled_ miniseries from 2002 was better than this film.
